The first ammonia-powered tractor with zero emissions successfully completed its first demonstration drive at Stony Brook University’s Advanced Energy Center in New York. The diesel engine on the midsize John Deere tractor was replaced with a “ammonia to power” system invented by the startup Amogy. The system converts the high-energy chemical to hydrogen, which is then used to power a 100 kW hydrogen fuel cell. Although most EV coverage focuses on consumer-oriented passenger cars and light trucks, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles account for over a quarter of U.S. vehicle emissions and are crucial decarbonization objectives. The low energy density of…

Industry should be required to save more energy starting in 2023. In at least thirty major cities, inner-city deliveries must become emission-free after 2025. And the Dutch government is investigating whether companies should be required to purchase sustainable hydrogen from 2026. These intentions are part of the Climate Policy Program that Minister Rob Jetten (Climate and Energy, D66) is sending to the Lower House this Thursday. This program is intended to implement a more stringent climate policy in the coming years, so that greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced more quickly. In order to certainly meet Europe’s requirement – 55…

Seven German wind, renewables, and hydrogen organizations teamed up with IG Metall to seek a faster ramp-up of green H2 production at sea, hydrogen tenders next year, and dedicated North Sea hydrogen pipelines. Northern German organisations united as ‘Offshore-Wind-H2-Achter’ in a six-step request for a’sprinter program’ for offshore-wind-to-hydrogen to avoid Germany missing worldwide developments. Hydrogen generation at sea in Germany’s EEZ offers enormous prospects for expanding electrolysis capacity for the national and European hydrogen plan and for offshore wind energy growth, the eight groups stated in a joint study. Cross-border cooperation is essential for a green hydrogen economy, the groups…
