This fund will be used to build the necessary energy infrastructure, implement green industrial policies, and improve the sustainability of mobility and the built environment.

Due to the indecision among its leaders, the European Union has been delaying for months the delivery of a list of energy sources that it considers sustainable.

The cars would adopt a hydrogen fuel cell that produces electricity, powering the engine.

The state government of South Australia (SA) and Swiss commodities trading business Trafigura will invest in the development of a 440 megawatt (MW) hydrogen plant. The proposed facility, which is projected to cost A$750 million (US$536 million), is expected to be connected with the Nyrstar smelter in Port Pirie. According to a statement from the South African state government, the SA government and Trafigura have each committed A$2.5 million to a front end engineering design (FEED) study. Lightsource bp, a solar energy company, will collaborate with Portugal’s Dourogas on a range of projects based on green hydrogen production. Lightsource bp — in which oil and gas company BP owns a 50% share — said in a statement that the cooperation would “examine the potential of eight green hydrogen sites.” The agreement is based on the assumption that solar facilities from Lightsource bp will be utilized to power electrolyzers created by Dourogas. A trial run of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks began as part of South Korea’s broader attempts to transition to environmentally friendly vehicles in line with the country’s carbon reduction program.
