Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has obtained a purchase order from Ovako, a renowned European maker of engineering steel, for a 20MW alkaline water electrolyser. The electrolyser will be put in Ovako’s existing factory in Hofors, Sweden, which was the first in the world to heat steel prior to rolling and hot forming with hydrogen. The fossil-free hydrogen will be utilized in place of the fossil propane gas currently used to heat the site’s furnaces. “We are very excited to announce the delivery of electrolyser equipment to Ovako, and this groundbreaking project. There is huge potential…

Wärtsilä has partnered with RINA, ABB, Helbio – a subsidiary of Metacon AB, the Liberian Registry, and an energy giant to develop a hydrogen-powered solution. The objective is to develop a scalable and sustainable solution capable of exceeding the IMO’s 2050 target of a 70% reduction in carbon intensity without requiring significant infrastructure investment. This paves the opportunity for the maritime industry to transition to low-carbon operations in a reasonable amount of time. Due to the difficulties and costs associated with the manufacturing, delivery, and onboard storage of hydrogen, the sector’s interest in its direct use as a maritime fuel…

Hydrogen Technologies (HT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Jericho Energy Ventures, is setting new standards with the world’s first zero-emission, closed-loop hydrogen boiler as part of a ground-breaking project with Bruichladdich Scottish Whisky Distillery and leading green hydrogen energy company, Protium, to help decarbonize the distillery’s operations. The demonstration project, led by Protium, will see Jericho’s innovative boiler solution – the Dynamic Combustion Chamber* (DCCTM – installed to heat the stills used to create Bruichladdich’s world-renowned Scotch and artisanal gin, The Botanist, thereby removing a significant contributor to the brand’s overall carbon emissions. This pilot project marks the first global…

INOVYN has announced a collaboration with the Netherlands-based VT Group (Verenigde Tankrederij) to develop Europe’s first hydrogen-powered bulk liquid chemical barge. This is part of INOVYN’s ongoing goal to produce green hydrogen and to eventually phase out carbon-based energy, feedstocks, and fuel sources. The hydrogen-powered barge will transport INOVYN’s critical raw materials between its Antwerp and Jemeppe, Belgium, locations. INOVYN will supply the low carbon hydrogen required to power the barge as a byproduct of its chemical manufacturing operations. VT Group will refit an existing barge with hydrogen technology, which will replace the existing gasoil combustion system. This will result…
