Green hydrogen, created by splitting water molecules with renewable power, is being pushed for investment by the European Union and numerous worldwide firms in the hopes of replacing polluting fuel in heavy industries.
Steel companies are being pushed to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 as a result of government and corporate net-zero commitments. Efforts to decarbonize steel production are at the heart of China’s, Japan’s, Korea’s, and the European Union’s net-zero goals.
As EAG pursues its plans for H2ERA, a zero-emission regional aircraft powered by hybrid hydrogen-electric technology, the cooperation with Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, will speed the development of innovative, sustainable aviation technologies.
This project allows for the utilization of by-product gas from a neighboring oil refinery as a source of energy. When burnt, by-product gas leaks contaminants into the environment, which has become an issue.
By the middle of the century, the world must have phased out fossil fuels in order to reduce global warming.
They further stated that the facility would be fueled with renewable energy and water (H20), the latter of which will dissolve into green hydrogen and oxygen through an electrolysis process.
The event marks a watershed moment in the global maritime industry’s decarbonization and exemplifies the US’s energy shift away from fossil fuels.
According to a feasibility assessment for the East Coast Hydrogen project, hydrogen may be utilized to feed 4.4 million households and as many as 39,000 industrial and commercial gas customers for around 13 pounds per family per year.
Green hydrogen, in Birol’s opinion, is currently at a comparable phase. There is a lot of desire and movement, but there isn’t yet a market. Europe is taking the lead once more, and the cooperation is designed to ensure technical leadership.
