Sweden’s largest fossil-free hydrogen facility is now being built with the goal of greatly reducing CO2 emissions, developing local industrial hydrogen production, and taking the first step towards a future hydrogen infrastructure for the transport sector. Ovako is starting a collaboration with the Volvo Group, Hitachi ABB Power Grids Sweden, H2 Green Steel and Nel Hydrogen to invest in hydrogen production in Hofors.
With a production capacity of 1,000 kg/day, this project is Tianjin’s largest hydrogen supply project, capable of meeting the hydrogen demand of six hydrogen refueling stations, and is critical to the growth of Tianjin’s hydrogen energy sector.
The hydrogen fuelling station (H2StationTM) under the COSMHYC-DEMO project is partially financed by the European Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking and is expected to be operational by Q3 2022.
This initiative adds to the company’s efforts as a pioneer in green hydrogen technology and a leader in alternative energy.
