However, switching to hydrogen-powered engines could make them more environmentally beneficial by reducing their emissions to zero. Sinopec Corp of China plans to invest 30 billion yuan ($4.6 billion) in hydrogen energy by 2025 as the state oil and gas major shifts its focus to natural gas and hydrogen production in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Beijing has been chosen as one of the first demonstration cities in China for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). The city has established a financial support system for FCVs and intends to expand its vehicle purchase incentives.
