The Gigastack project aims to develop a blueprint for the deployment of industrial-scale renewable hydrogen from offshore wind, and this is the first visualisation of what a renewable hydrogen plant in the Humber could look like – brought together based on work conducted as part of the FEED study, which will ultimately help turn this “virtual” vision into a reality. The FEED research enabled the partners – ITM Power, Ørsted, Phillips 66, and Element Energy – to gather significant, in-depth knowledge about the requirements for constructing a large-scale hydrogen electrolysis facility and the associated problems.

ASA (Advertising Standards Authorit) has issued Hyundai Motor UK a warning for a false advertisement which stated that its hydrogen-powered Nexo vehicle filters the air as it goes. The complainant challenged whether the claim “A car so clean, it purifies the air as it goes” was misleading and could be shown. Hyundai said that the NEXO was a hydrogen-powered car that generated electricity using a fuel cell. The oxygen was required for the fuel cell to work because contaminants in the air would harm the fuel cell. The air supply system is reported to be contained in the NEXO. Here,…

GroenLeven has agreed to purchase green hydrogen from the Sinnewetterstof project in Oosterwolde from Orangegas. GroenLeven will generate hydrogen on-site using power generated by the solar park. Orangegas will distribute this hydrogen through a network of filling stations spread over the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Alliander has begun preparing for the project’s construction. At periods when solar energy is abundant, an electrolyser turns it to hydrogen in the Sinnewetterstof project. Thus, the project contributes to grid congestion resolution in the Netherlands. This created energy is not lost, but can be stored locally in a sustainable manner using this hydrogen solution. The trial…
