The regulation of the future hydrogen infrastructure is at the core of today’s energy issues. GIE releases a position paper providing the views and recommendations of its 70 members from 27 European nations. This report makes specific policy ideas that will help accelerate the development of the hydrogen economy. Additionally, it highlights the particular advantages of the gas infrastructure for hydrogen integration. GIE comprises around 70 members from 27 European countries that own and operate existing infrastructure that is ready to be modified and/or repurposed for hydrogen transport, storage, and import. With their existing experience, gas infrastructure operators can safely…

The CEFC has a major focus on hydrogen, as part of its role to increase investment in new technologies to drive down emissions.
Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will create a roadmap to accelerate the joint development of high-performance electrolyser technology that is more durable, performs better, and uses less energy than current systems.
Hyundai Motor Company unveiled images of the company’s freshly improved XCIENT Fuel Cell, the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck. Hyundai’s zero-emission heavy-duty vehicle will become even more appealing to corporate fleet clients worldwide with design and performance enhancements. “Hyundai Motor is leveraging more than 20 years of experience in fuel cell technology to further its vision of an eco-friendly hydrogen society,” said Jaehoon (Jay) Chang, CEO and President of Commercial Vehicle Division at Hyundai Motor Company. “With 2021 XCIENT Fuel Cell, Hyundai will contribute to the widespread adoption of commercial vehicles powered by hydrogen.” Hyundai will begin production of…
MMEX Resources Corp., a development-stage business focused on acquiring, developing, and financing oil, gas, refining, and infrastructure projects in Texas and South America, announced the signing of project agreements to advance its first hydrogen and clean fuels with carbon capture projects, as well as the expansion of its Pecos County, Texas, facility. Jack W. Hanks, President and CEO of MMEX Resources Corp. said, “We are expanding our footprint in Pecos County, Texas to accommodate our solar powered clean energy projects which include potential production of hydrogen and ultra-low sulfur transportation fuels, both with carbon capture technology. We have signed an…
Clean Power Hydrogen, the Doncaster-based producer of the world’s first Membrane-Free Electrolyser, has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Octopus Hydrogen to supply a 1MW electrolyser. The order is a significant milestone for Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2), as it is the company’s first 1MW electrolyser delivery to a UK-based hydrogen production and supply company, demonstrating the continued high level of interest in the company’s proprietary Membrane-Free ElectrolyserTM. William Rowe, CEO and Founder of Octopus Hydrogen, said: “Our focus is on delivering green hydrogen to the sectors which cannot be decarbonised by batteries alone, mainly aviation and heavy-duty road vehicles. We…
BayoTech and IBMS Group signed a deal to develop the UK’s first renewable hydrogen project, which will use biomethane derived from food waste as a feedstock. The project will generate 1,000 kg of renewable hydrogen per day to power zero-emission automobiles in the United Kingdom’s London and Surrey districts. The alliance timed its public debut to coincide with the introduction of the CBI’s ‘Seize the Moment’ program and to highlight the critical role of cleantech in driving economic recovery as the UK emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic. This transatlantic collaboration brings together two companies dedicated to addressing the need for…
ADNOC announced that it will advance a world-scale “blue” ammonia production facility in Ruwais, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). ADNOC is a leader in the developing hydrogen market, leading the way in the development of hydrogen value chains in the UAE while contributing to economic growth and diversification. TA’ZIZ’ industrial ecosystem and chemicals center in Ruwais will be the location of the new factory. The blue ammonia is created from nitrogen and “blue” hydrogen produced from natural gas feedstocks with the carbon dioxide output being saved. Ammonia can be utilized in a wide range of industrial applications, including transportation,…
Alexander Novak, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, offered to collaborate with Saudi Arabia on hydrogen production during an online meeting of the Russia-Saudi Arabia intergovernmental commission. Hydrogen has grown in popularity as the future green fuel of choice, increasingly advocated as a means of decarbonizing emissions-intensive heavy industry and transportation. Rich in oil and gas Russia has been sluggish to develop hydrogen gas production, a fuel that generates primarily water vapor and warm air when burned. Saudi Arabia is planning various large-scale hydrogen production projects as part of its economic diversification efforts.
EI-H2 Energy aims to apply for planning permission for a 50MW electrolysis facility at Aghada, Cork County, which, once operational, will offset 63,000 tonnes of carbon emissions generated by Irish industry and power generation each year. When completed, the site will be one of the world’s largest green energy projects. EI-H2 is scheduled to begin an intense round of pre-planning conversations with Cork County Council, the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, and other interested parties later this year. If granted, 85 direct and indirect jobs would be created, and EI-H2 Aghada is projected to be operational by the…
