Linde has been selected by Norwegian ferry operator Norled to supply liquid hydrogen and related infrastructure for the hydrogen-powered ferry, which will transport both cars and passengers. Linde will provide a full-service solution to the MF Hydra ferry in Norway. Liquid hydrogen will be supplied from Linde’s new 24MW electrolyzer at the Leuna Chemical Complex in Germany, which will use PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) technology to produce green hydrogen. Linde will also build and install onshore and onboard hydrogen storage, distribution and safety equipment. Supply of hydrogen is scheduled to start in 2022, at which point the fuel cell-powered ferry…
Therma Marine (TMI) has ordered a barge-mounted 54 MW / 32 MWh energy storage system to be delivered by Wärtsilä on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis. The Wärtsilä barge will be placed next to TMI’s existing thermal power barge of a total of 100 MW in the municipality of Maco in the province of Davao de Oro. The project will be handled on a fast-track basis, with delivery scheduled to be completed in Q4 2021. This will be the first ever deployment of a floating energy storage solution in the South East Asia region. It will involve placing…
Canadian Solar has completed the sale of two operational projects totaling 61 MWp to Canadian Solar Infrastructure Fund for JPY 30.6 billion. To finance the acquisition of the 53 MWp Oita Hiji-machi and 8 MWp Miyagi Ogawara projects, CSIF recently completed an international public offering and raised over JPY 18 billion ($166 million) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Canadian Solar participated in this transaction and continues to own approximately 15% of CSIF. Additionally, CSIF issued over JPY 19 billion ($175 million) of long-term debt to maintain its capital structure. “I am pleased to report that we have surpassed $1 billion…
Shell and Alfen have launched a pilot to trial an on-site battery-powered system to support ultra-fast electric vehicle charging at Shell’s Zaltbommel forecourt in the Netherlands. A Shell first, the battery-powered system offers an alternative solution to costly and time-consuming public grid upgrades by storing electricity in an on-site battery. This increased supply of energy helps power ultra-fast chargers, allowing drivers to simultaneously use the site’s two 175kW charge points. Connected to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), the system provides additional benefits as it can use the spare capacity of the battery to sell electricity back to the grid at…
Iberdrola has teamed up with some of the UK’s main distilleries and spirits companies and the Port of Cromarty Firth to launch a green hydrogen project in the Highlands. The result will allow the whisky and spirit production industry in Scotland to develop this technology and fight climate change. The North of Scotland Hydrogen Scheme will create a hub in the Cromarty Firth to produce, store and distribute renewable hydrogen to the region and other parts of the UK and Europe. One of the leading projects – whose feasibility study will be released in May – will supply Scottish distilleries…
