Eni collaborated on the HyNet North West integrated initiative, which aims to decarbonize the vital industrial district in the North-West of England. The project secured £33 million in funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the UK Government’s agency that funds research and innovation in the region, through the Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC) fund. The financing covers nearly half of the expenditure needed to conclude current planning studies, with the goal of making the site operational by 2025. A group of regionally based manufacturing firms is leading the HyNet North West project alongside Eni. The site’s aim is to absorb,…

TechnipFMC and Magnora have agreed to explore floating offshore wind project growth opportunities together under the name Magnora Offshore Wind. Magnora is a major enabler in solar energy technology and has a leading presence in the clean energy industry as an owner in offshore wind, onshore wind, and solar development ventures. Magnora Offshore Wind will be able to realize substantial opportunities in the growing offshore floating wind sector thanks to TechnipFMC’s innovative technology, expertise delivering integrated EPCI (iEPCI) ventures, and revolutionary Deep Purple plan to incorporate wind and wave energy with offshore green hydrogen storage. Magnora Offshore Wind has already…
Enegix Energy and Black & Veatch are working together to complete the feasibility study for Enegix’s Base One green hydrogen plant in Ceará, Brazil. Enegix is developing Base One, a green hydrogen project in cooperation with the State Government of Ceará, an investment of $5.4 billion. Enegix will set up the world’s largest green hydrogen plant that will produce over 600 million kg of green hydrogen per year when fully operational in 2025. Black & Veatch will provide the feasibility study for the project. The scope of works includes technical design, supplier and technology selection, planning of execution, project time…
UK’s first-ever hydrogen transport hub is one step closer to becoming a reality, with the unveiling of an official ‘masterplan’ and £3 million in government funding. A first of its kind, the transport hub – being built in Tees Valley – will bring together leading figures from government, industry and academia to focus research, testing and trials across all transport modes. The hub could be fully operational by 2025 – helping to create up to 5,000 new jobs in the north-east over the long-term. By creating real-world hydrogen transport pilots, the establishment of the hub will also help to understand…
UK-based North Star Renewables has received contracts for delivery of three service operation vessels (SOVs) for the Dogger Bank A and B phases. The total value of the contracts including options is estimated at about GBP 270 million. The three SOVs will incorporate the latest technology, including a hybrid battery solution and power-to-shore to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Technicians servicing the turbines will spend two weeks on board the high-tech vessels, more than 130 km off the North East coast of England, ensuring the wind farm phases are safely and efficiently maintained to provide optimum wind turbine availability. SSE…
Iberdrola plans a new 600-MW wind project, following the agreement with Cosmo Eco Power and Hitz to jointly develop the Seihoku-oki project in Aomori prefecture, in the northwest of the country. The Seihoku-oki offshore wind farm will enter round 2 of the capacity auction planned by the Japanese government between this year and 2022. Following the transaction – subject to the usual regulatory approvals – the project will be led by Iberdrola and Cosmo Eco Power, with similar voting rights, together with Hitz. The deal takes place six months after the acquisition of 100% of Japanese developer Acacia Renewables -…
Vestas has received a 56 MW order for the Banie lV project from Energix, the wind farm’s majority owner and wind project developer in Poland. The contract covers the supply, construction, and commissioning of 16 V126-3.45 MW wind turbines with a 3.5 MW operating mode, as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service arrangement. The project, located in Banie, Western Pomerania, Poland, adds to Vestas’ existing installation of approximately 2.5 GW of onshore wind turbines in Poland. Vestas has already secured a further 1.2 GW of installation orders. This project highlights Vestas’ leadership role in Poland’s clean…
We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) is moving forward with a new 325-megawatt (MW) solar and battery storage project. The Darien Solar Energy Center is the company’s second proposed large-scale solar and battery project announced this year. If approved, the $446 million Darien Solar Energy Center would feature 250 MW of solar generation, which is equal to powering 75,000 homes, and 75 MW of battery storage, which can store solar-generated power and provide customers with “sunshine after sunset.” The project is planned to be built in Rock and Walworth counties, Wisconsin. Last month, the companies announced plans for the…
Canada and Germany have entered into an energy partnership, establishing a formal collaboration in a broad range of shared energy priorities aimed at facilitating private sector engagement, and trade and investment opportunities. Announced on the margins of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, the partnership positions Canada as a clean energy partner of choice for Germany, notably for hydrogen, critical minerals and liquefied natural gas. Canada and Germany will establish a High-Level Steering Committee, co-chaired at the Deputy Minister–level, to foster the energy transformation through exchanges on policy, best practices and technologies as well as through cooperative activities and projects focused…
National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has developed the Solar Time-based Residential Analytics and Cycle time Estimator (Solar TRACE), an online tool to increase transparency into PII processes, requirements, and overall adoption cycle times nationwide. Users will be able to compare the timelines and requirements of PII for any jurisdiction in the United States, allowing contractors, homeowners, and other interested stakeholders to estimate how long various PII processes may take in a jurisdiction or utility as compared to its peers. In addition, it can help identify PII-related improvements that might be able to streamline cycle times and potentially reduce PII-related costs…
