Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings (HHIH) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in hydrogen and ammonia-related businesses with Saudi Aramco. The MoU was signed by Kisun Chung, Vice President & Head of Management Support Office at HHIH, and Ahmad A. Al Sa’adi, Senior Vice-President of Technical Services at Saudi Aramco. Via the deal, both sides are finding an incentive to create a cooperative model for environmentally sustainable hydrogen and ammonia, including collaborative research and production. Haldor Topsoe will build a large-scale production plant for SOEC electrolyzers to satisfy consumer demands for the production of green hydrogen. With the new facility, Topsoe will meet the increasingly growing demand for competitive electrolysis technology, mostly green hydrogen power plants focused on renewable energy. Development of the integrated manufacturing plant, which will be the first of its kind, is underway. A multi-partner plan involving the Port of Cromarty Firth has been initiated to create a green hydrogen center in the Highlands that will see Scotland leading the world in hydrogen technology. The North of Scotland Hydrogen Program intends to establish a center in Cromarty Firth to manufacture, store and export hydrogen to the area of Scotland, other parts of the United Kingdom and Europe. Fusion Fuel Green has signed an MoU with BGR Energy Systems (BGRENERGY) to develop green hydrogen projects in India. The companies aim to set up an initial demonstrator plant in India in 2021 and then expand broader ventures in the area for the supply of hydrogen for the manufacture of green ammonia and bio-ethanol and as feedstock for other heavy industrial applications. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has entered into an arrangement to divest 49 percent of the Monegros onshore wind portfolio in a fund run by Arjun Infrastructure Partners (Arjun). The portfolio of Monegros consists of 12 onshore wind farms with a combined installed capacity of 487 MW situated in Aragon, Spain. PepsiCo, Target and Hormel Foods have signed long-term energy procurement agreements with Ørsted for the 298 MW Haystack Wind project in Nebraska. “Through projects like Haystack Wind, we’re able to provide clean energy to the grid while contributing to the project’s local community through job creation, landowner benefits, and local tax reduction.”Vishal Kapadia, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, at Ørsted Onshore. Iberdrola continues its investment in Extremadura with 750 MW of new photovoltaic power approved for construction in the province of Cáceres, which will contribute to the economic recovery and demographic challenge in the region. The Tagus photovoltaic plant (380 MW) will be situated in the municipality of Alcántara and will have over 930,000 panels and 226 inverters on a fixed frame. UK Government agreed to invest £4.8 million in Holyhead to pilot the production of hydrogen. Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie has been instrumental in securing the investment after talking to ministers and business leaders on the island over many months and making the case for Anglesey to be at the forefront of green technology. Siemens Energy has teamed up with Intermountain Power Agency to carry out a feasibility report on the integration of a hydrogen energy storage facility into an integrated combined cycle power plant. The initiative secured a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, one of four grants received by Siemens Energy at the end of 2020 to advance hydrogen applications in the U.S. power generation market.
