Luxcara and GE Renewable Energy have singed agreement to deliver 753 MW of onshore wind capacity with the Önusberget wind farm in northern Sweden. The project will be the largest single onshore wind farm in Europe and GE’s largest onshore wind farm contract outside of the US. GE Renewable Energy will supply 137 of its Cypress 5.5 MW turbines, a powerful turbine with a 158-meter rotor, ideally suited for the project site’s wind speeds and climate. The turbine blades will be equipped with an ice mitigation system, ensuring a stable level of availability and reduced downtime. The parties also agreed…

Nordex Group will supply nine N117/3600 turbines for the Den Tol wind farm in the Netherlands. The turbines will be supplied in the 3.675 MW operating mode. The order also includes a Premium Service contract for the turbines covering a period of 25 years. Den Tol will be built in the east of the Netherlands, near Netterden, close to the Dutch-German border. The wind farm has been developed over a period of many years by a group of local farmers together with Windunie Development, a Dutch specialist in the development and operation of local sustainable energy projects. The start of…
30 pioneering European energy players who, after two years of testing and confidential planning, formally launch HyDeal Ambition with the goal of supplying 100 percent green hydrogen across Europe at €1.5/kg before 2030. The production of green hydrogen produced by solar-driven electrolysis from the Iberian Peninsula will begin in 2022. The aim is to reach 95 GW of solar and 67 GW of electrolysis power by 2030 to provide 3.6 million tons of green hydrogen per year to consumers in the energy, industry and mobility sectors via the gas transmission and storage network, equal to 1.5 months of oil consumption…
Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s (ARENA) has launched $71.9 million Future Fuels Fund as part of the 20/21 Federal Budget, aimed at addressing barriers to the roll out of new vehicle technologies. The first round of the Fund will see $16.5 million of grant funding made available to fund battery electric vehicle (BEV) public fast charging infrastructure to expand the network and reduce blackspots. The funding will be available to support the roll out of networks of fast charging stations (50 kW and above) across eight geographic areas including each Australian capital city, alongside large regional centres including Newcastle, Wollongong, the…
Tilt Renewables (TLT) has completed installation of Waipipi Wind Farm (WWF) turbines, located near Waverley in South Taranaki, New Zealand. Construction activities at the site are now winding down and work is focused on completing commissioning of the final 2 turbines. “To safely complete construction of 31 of the largest wind turbines ever installed in New Zealand very close to the original schedule is a superb result, one not common to many large infrastructure projects and a credit to all involved in the planning and execution of the project. This is despite the site being shut down for 5 weeks…
Shoreham Port and H2evolution have started work on green hydrogen hub. A planning application will shortly be developed to establish a 20-megawatt electrolysis plant to the south of the Port’s lock gates. The hydrogen produced at Shoreham will be fully certified as green as it will be produced from a combination of captive renewable energy sources available at the Port and green energy, with guaranteed certificates of renewable origin, from the Grid. The hydrogen hub, aimed to become operational in 2024, has the potential to produce fuel cell grade hydrogen to supply local and regional operators of fuel cell electric…
Vestas has appointed Purvin Patel as regional president of Asia Pacific. Patel joins Vestas from a position as CEO of ISS UK & Ireland, bringing more than 25 years of commercial and operational leadership experience from this role, as well as previous leadership positions at Walmart, Kingfisher Group (UK) and RadhaKrishna Foodland. Patel succeeds Clive Turton, who will leave the company after heading Vestas Asia Pacific since 2017. “I’m delighted to welcome Purvin Patel on board to lead Vestas Asia Pacific as renewables continue to expand their reach in a region with growing electricity needs. Royal HaskoningDHV has been appointed as environmental consultant by the NortH2 consortium of Shell Nederland, Gasunie, Equinor, RWE and support partners Groningen Seaports and Province of Groningen. The NortH2 project will decarbonize industry by producing green hydrogen as a replacement for the fossil energy the industry is currently using – thus contributing to the Paris Agreement to combat climate change. NortH2 comprises the entire green hydrogen value chain in five functional systems from source to end user: new 10GW+ wind farms in the North Sea, the infrastructure to bring the power onshore, the new electrolyser plant where the energy is…

Abengoa has completed the construction of the demonstration plant for the Grasshopper project, with the aim of producing sustainable power using hydrogen fuel cells. As part of this project, a pilot plant has been built in Seville and moved to Abengoa Innovation’s testing facilities in the port of Seville, Spain, where it is being commissioned and started up before being sent to Delfzijl, The Netherlands. There, it will use the hydrogen excess produced in the Nouryon chlor-alkali plant, thus validating power production in a real industrial environment. The Grasshopper project creates a fuel cell power plants (FCPP) capable of generating…
