A planning application will shortly be developed to establish a 20-megawatt electrolysis plant to the south of the Port’s lock gates. The hydrogen produced at Shoreham will be fully certified as green as it will be produced from a combination of captive renewable energy sources available at the Port and green energy, with guaranteed certificates of renewable origin, from the Grid. Abengoa has completed the construction of the demonstration plant for the Grasshopper project, with the aim of producing sustainable power using hydrogen fuel cells. As part of this project, a pilot plant has been built in Seville and moved to Abengoa Innovation’s testing facilities in the port of Seville, Spain, where it is being commissioned and started up before being sent to Delfzijl, The Netherlands. ENERGODATA has selected Leclanché (LECN) to provide its proprietary energy management software (EMS) along with a battery energy storage system (BESS) for a novel application in a natural gas-fired power plant in Levice. BASF and EDF Energy North America have signed a 35 MW Wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that will bring 25 MW wind power to BASF’s Verbund site in Freeport and 10 MW wind power to the Pasadena site. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and CrossWind have entered into a deal to supply the turbines for the 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind park. This involves the procurement of 69 SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines and a 15-year service and maintenance deal.
