Uniper has become a partner in the Swedish Liquid Wind, which develops electro-fuel based on hydrogen to aid carbon neutral shipping. Uniper will be the second largest investor in the company, which is now in the process of developing their first eMethanol production facility in Örnsköldsvik, on the north east coast of Sweden . The facility will produce 50,000 tons of eMethanol per year, using fossil-free wind power and captured, biogenic carbon dioxide. It´s ideally suited to enable carbon neutral shipping, and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tons/year, once in operation from late 2023/early 2024. “Demand for cleaner…
Eco Energy World (EEW) is developing a green hydrogen and solar PV project located in Raglan near the Port of Gladstone, Queensland. The total cost represents an estimated AUD$0.5 billion. The group plans to combine the PV plant with the project to produce renewable energy for green hydrogen production, developing a 200MW hydrogen plant with a further 100MW allocated to energy storage. The hydrogen plant will produce 33,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year using electrolyser technology. “This significant project marks a key milestone in our own corporate development as we work in parallel to seek a public listing for…
RWE has ordered ten N117 turbines for two wind farms with a total capacity of 33 MW from Nordex Group. The Nordex Group is supplying six N117/3000 turbines on tubular steel towers with hub heights of 76 metres for the 18 MW onshore wind farm Les Hauts Bouleaux in the Oise Department. The 15 MW Martinpuich wind farm in the Pas-de-Calais department will be equipped with four N117/3600 turbines with hub height of 91 metres, which are delivered in the operation mode of 3.675 MW. Installation of the turbines will start in the current year and the commissioning of the…
Total Eren has successful commissioned the 97.2 MW Vientos Los Hércules wind farm in Santa Cruz Province, in southern Argentina. Vientos Los Hércules is Total Eren’s largest wind farm to come into business in Latin America. It would generate approximately 400 GWh each year – enough to satisfy the electricity needs of about 110,000 households – and mitigate carbon dioxide emissions by more than 200,000 tons per year. “We are very pleased to reach this new milestone in Argentina with our partner Mitsui. Vientos Los Hércules represents Total Eren’s third renewable energy project in operation in the country, following the…
Ørsted, Aker Carbon Capture, will jointly explore ways to support the development of carbon capture and storage at biomass-fired heat and power plants in Denmark. Carbon capture and storage is widely accepted as an important instrument to meet both the Danish climate targets of 70 % carbon reduction by 2030 and to meet the Paris Agreement’s goal to limit global temperature increases to 1.5 degrees Celsius. By capturing the carbon emitted by biomass-fired heat and power plants and storing it underground, it is possible to not only reduce, but also remove carbon from the atmosphere, as carbon from sustainable biomass…
H2Pro has closed its $22 million series A2 financing. The A2 round was led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), Breakthrough Energy Ventures Europe (BEV-E) and IN Venture, Sumitomo Corporation CVC in Israel. Existing investors iAngels, TPY Capital, Contrarian Ventures and Bazan and new investors Horizons Ventures, New Fortress Energy (NFE) and OurCrowd also participated in the round. H2Pro is developing a water splitting device that is expected to reach 95% efficiency (42kwh/kg H2), operate at higher pressure (50 bars or higher) and cost significantly less than an electrolyzer. The system will support intermittent renewable energy. Coupled with anticipated reductions in…
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) have signed a partnership that will help drive the energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The partnership is built around knowledge-sharing in the context of promoting regional integration, renewable energy investment, finance and risk mitigation in the Latin America and the Caribbean. In particular, the two parties will support each other’s initiatives such as IDB’s Energy Hub and the IRENA’s Climate Investment Platform – a multi-stakeholder initiative established at the UN Secretary General’s Climate Action Summit Climate Action Summit 2019. Specifically, IDB and IRENA will…
AGL has entered into an agreement to acquire Australia’s largest commercial solar business, Solgen Energy Group. The acquisition complements and strengthens AGL’s existing solar capabilities, enabling the combined group to deliver more tailored and innovative energy solutions for businesses. “This part of the energy sector has seen significant growth over the last 10 years, as businesses right across Australia seek out solar offerings to help them decarbonize, reduce costs and create sustainable operations. AGL will continue to evolve and innovate in energy and other essential services to enhance the way Australians live and drive a cleaner energy future.”AGL CEO &…
Linde has been selected by Norwegian ferry operator Norled to supply liquid hydrogen and related infrastructure for the hydrogen-powered ferry, which will transport both cars and passengers. Linde will provide a full-service solution to the MF Hydra ferry in Norway. Liquid hydrogen will be supplied from Linde’s new 24MW electrolyzer at the Leuna Chemical Complex in Germany, which will use PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) technology to produce green hydrogen. Linde will also build and install onshore and onboard hydrogen storage, distribution and safety equipment. Supply of hydrogen is scheduled to start in 2022, at which point the fuel cell-powered ferry…
Therma Marine (TMI) has ordered a barge-mounted 54 MW / 32 MWh energy storage system to be delivered by Wärtsilä on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis. The Wärtsilä barge will be placed next to TMI’s existing thermal power barge of a total of 100 MW in the municipality of Maco in the province of Davao de Oro. The project will be handled on a fast-track basis, with delivery scheduled to be completed in Q4 2021. This will be the first ever deployment of a floating energy storage solution in the South East Asia region. It will involve placing…
