Wave energy developer CorPower Ocean has appointed Miguel Silva as head of its Portuguese operation. The news comes shortly after CorPower unveiled plans for a new €16 million R&D, manufacturing and service center in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, to become a key focus for the HiWave-5 project in Aguçadoura with a showcase pilot wave farm. JDR has entered into a deal with Boskalis to terminate and test 100 array cables and two offshore substation interconnector cables for the Moray East offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland. The energy minister of the German state with the most wind turbines has warned of an impending “catastrophe” in the industry due to the end of support under the Renewable Energy Act (EEG). Northern Reliability (NRI) has selected KORE Power’s battery systems for a project at Vermont Electric Power Company’s (VELCO) headquarters in Rutland, Vermont. The Pinnacle Ridge Solar and Storage Project will have 1.2 MWh of battery capacity to store electricity from a 500 kW solar array. Nordex Group has received an order for AW132/3465 turbines from Brazil. For its new customer, TODA Energia do Brasil, the manufacturer will supply eight turbines for a 27.7 MW wind farm.
