Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) and Enso Energy are working together in a UK solar development joint venture. The partnership was formed with the goal of establishing one of the largest subsidy-free solar and battery storage portfolios in the UK that will deliver renewable energy to communities and businesses throughout the country. Inovateus Solar has started construction on Logansport municipal utility’s first solar project after the city retired its over 120-year-old coal power plant. Financed by a power purchase agreement (PPA), the solar project will minimize carbon emissions from Logansport Municipal Utilities (LMU), help stabilize energy prices for LMU customers, and also host a bee and butterfly habitat that will support farming in the area. Vestas has received a 28 MW repowering order from ecoJoule construct for the wind project Brest, located in Lower-Saxony in northern Germany, won in the tender for the Federal Network Agency. Five EnVentus platform V150-5.6 MW turbines, with concrete hybrid towers with a hub height of 166 meters, will substitute the currently installed turbines to increase annual energy production. The new tower offering highlights the advantages of the modular EnVentus architecture allowing improved versatility and local conditions optimization. Sterling and Wilson Solar Solutions have revealed that they have been awarded a $99 million contract to build a 194 MW project in the United States. It is being built by a leading sustainable energy company, and will be co-located in an region that is in service with substantial wind production. Project construction will begin in September 2020 and commission by November 2021. The entire turn-key execution for the PV project will be operated by SWSS, and once commercially operational, the plant will generate enough solar energy to power over 35.000 homes, saving around 275.000 metric tons of carbon emissions.…

Windpark Zeewolde, Vestas and Rabobank have closed contracts for wind turbines and financing for the Windpark Zeewolde project in the Netherlands. A unique collaboration of more than 200 local farmers, residents and entrepreneurs from the Netherlands, Windpark Zeewolde has placed an order for 83 Vestas wind turbines totaling 322 MW for the Zeewolde wind project. The project is situated in the suburbs of Zeewolde, near the IJsselmeer, on an area covering over 300 square kilometers. Vattenfall is exploring the potential of two new wind farms South West Scotland along with a battery-powered storage facility at each site. The Whiteneuk wind farm project is situated approximately 5 kilometers south of Moniaive and will consist of up to 35 wind turbines. The Quantans Hill wind farm project, located about 2 kilometers north-east of the village of Carsphairn, will consist of up to 21 wind turbines. Shetland Islands Council (SIC) has granted planning permission for Viking wind farm’s temporary main construction compound southeast of Sandwater. The site will cover a maximum area of 250 square meters along an access route off the A970 main road. During the four-year construction process of the wind farm, offices, workshops, a canteen and other welfare facilities will be provided to the workers along with a laydown area for storing plant, fuel, equipment and supplies. The Nordex Group has started the construction of a factory for the production of concrete towers for its turbines on a 12-hectare site located in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. After completion in August, Nordex will be providing jobs for about 300 workers while creating an additional 200 jobs with suppliers of local components. “We are pleased to be setting up a further industrial nucleus in Motilla del Palancar with our tower-manufacturing facility. Vestas has secured a 48 MW order with Vietnamese developer, Phong Lieu Wind Power JSC for a wind project located in the Quang Tri Province of Vietnam. In total, Vestas will supply, deliver, install and commission 12 V150-4.2 MW of wind turbines supplied in 4.0 MW operating mode. As with previous projects in the province, the Phong Lieu wind farm will leverage project management, and transport capabilities of Vestas to develop and deliver site-specific solutions in the area’s remote and complex mountainous terrain. Goldwind Australia has completed work on the 50-turbine Moorabool North section, while the 54-turbine Moorabool South section has also seen the first wind turbine installed recently.
