Encore Renewable Energy and the Greater Burlington YMCA have completed a new solar array on the rooftop at downtown Burlington. Encore has worked extensively with the management team and construction contractors at the YMCA to integrate the solar project into the new facility that was built on a redeveloped property in downtown Burlington, Vermont. 174 Power Global has completed and energized its Oberon Solar Power Facility, one of the largest utility-scale solar generation facilities in Texas. Hanwha Energy, a comprehensive-energy-solutions company, hosted an event at its Daesan Industrial Complex in Seosan, Korea, and celebrated the completion of a hydrogen-fuel-cell power plant that only uses recycled hydrogen. The new byproduct-hydrogen-fuel-cell power plant was designed by Hanwha Engineering & Construction and costs $212 million. It occupies 20,000 m2 of the Daesan Industrial Complex. CIT Group’s Power and Energy unit has served as sole lead arranger on a $162 million financing for the East Blackland solar project in Travis County, Texas. The financing was negotiated on behalf of Recurrent Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar that serves as the U.S. project development arm of Canadian Solar. Duke Energy Renewables has closed of $109.4 million in a preferred tax equity funding from Goldman Sachs’ Alternative Energy Investing Group. The investment will be used over 18 months to finance a diverse portfolio of approximately 75 megawatts of solar and solar plus storage projects, to be developed and installed by REC Solar subsidiary of Duke Energy Renewables. Siemens Energy and Beijing Green Hydrogen Technology, a subsidiary of China Power International Development (China Power), have signed an agreement for a hydrogen fueling station to have hydrogen production infrastructure. Located in Yanqing City, Beijing, one of the three key strategic areas for a major sporting event in 2022, Siemens Energy’s green hydrogen production system will help ensure hydrogen supply during and after the event for public transport. SSE Renewables has placed an order with Vestas of 443 MW on the Shetland Islands in the North Atlantic for the Viking wind project. The European Marine Energy Center (EMEC) has been designated with Renewable Energy Testing Laboratory (RETL) status, the highest international designation for marine energy test laboratories. EMEC is the first RETL for ocean energy in the world. RETL is awarded by the International Electrotechnical Commission-Renewable Energy System (IECRE), which operates a global certification program covering three renewable energy sectors: solar photovoltaic (PV), wind and marine.
