Vestas has received a 50 MW order from China, which includes the supply of V120-2.2 MW wind turbines. The turbines will be delivered in 2.4 MW power optimized mode and a 5-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service contract. Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020, with commissioning planned for the same quarter. The customer and project names are undisclosed.

Siemens Gamesa has completed the purchase of all of the shares in Ria Blades, the company that owns and operates the onshore wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in Vagos, Portugal, as well as other additional assets necessary to run the facility. The completion of this acquisition means that the company has fully completed the acquisition of select assets from Senvion. Vestas has secured another order for two 64 MW projects located in complex mountainous terrain in the province of Quang Tri, Vietnam. In total, Vestas will supply, deliver, build and commission 16 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines delivered in 4.0 MW operating mode. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has received several applications for the subsidy-free tender for the construction of a North Sea wind farm in the Hollandse Kust (noord) Wind Farm Zone. RVO will assess these applications and expects to announce the winner of the permit within 13 weeks. A wind farm of at least 700 megawatts will be built in the zone and will produce renewable electricity without a government subsidy. Modvion has constructed Sweden’s first wooden wind tower on Björkö outside of Gothenburg. The wood construction is as solid as steel, which makes the wind turbine climate neutral from the beginning. The wind power tower that is now erected at Björkö is 30 meters high and will be used for research purposes. A serious accident has occurred on board of offshore installation vessel ‘Orion 1’ at the occasion of and during crane load tests.  The vessel is under construction and owned by COSCO (QIDONG) OFFSHORE. The vessel is moored at the quayside at the Liebherr construction yard in Rostock, with the crane undergoing several load tests. Reportedly, a few persons suffered minor injuries. The vessel is expected for delivery to DEME in the second half of May 2020. The crane has suffered significant damage, while damage to the crane and the vessel will be investigated in the upcoming days and weeks.

AGL has installed the final turbine at Coopers Gap, completing the construction of Australia’s largest wind farm.
