Singapore-based Penguin International has selected SCHOTTEL’s Tunnel Thruster STT 51 FP for its Flex-42X series of eight executive fast crew boats. With a 95 kW electric motor controlled by a variable frequency drive, the STT will be installed in the new vessels being built by the customer’s shipyards in Singapore and Indonesia. As the vessels are based on a completely re-designed aluminium monohull form, the STTs feature an aluminium tunnel as well as an aluminium lower gear housing. Van Oord’s heavy lift vessel Svanen has arrived at the Danish Kriegers Flak offshore wind field in the Baltic Sea. The Svanen will begin construction works for the offshore wind farm foundations. Van Oord signed an agreement with Vattenfall to transport and install the foundations for the Kriegers Flak wind farm. Van Oord will install the 72 monopiles and the transition pieces. Kriegers Flak will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm with a production capacity of just over 600 MW and is expected to be fully operational by 2021. Mortenson has began constructing an 86MW solar facility for Silicon Ranch in Jeff Davis County in Southeast Georgia. When the project is finished, Silicon Ranch will supply the renewable energy it produces to Green Power EMC, the renewable energy provider for 38 Georgia Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs) across the state, at cost-competitive rates. Mortenson is in charge of the facility’s design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. CIT Group unit Power and Energy served as lead arranger on a $217 million financing for the 200-megawatt Hillcrest solar photovoltaic project in Brown County, Ohio. The financing was arranged on behalf of Innergex Renewable Energy, a Canada-based independent renewable power producer that develops, acquires, owns and operates hydroelectric facilities, wind farms, and solar farms. Innergex’s portfolio includes 68 operating renewable energy facilities with an aggregate net installed capacity of 2,588 megawatts. EDP Renewables North America, has secured a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) to sell the energy produced by the 100 MW Sandrini Sol 1 solar pv project. The project, located in the state of California in the United States, is expected to come online in 2022. The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) is to fund the investment by Finnish company Valoe Oyj in a solar cell plant in Lithuania through a financing facility of €25 million. The new development of Valoe’s solar cells allows for a major leap in European photovoltaic panel technology. The investment is part of the green growth strategy of NEFCO which aims to promote the deployment and growth of Nordic environmental technologies on the global markets.
