Fuel cell solutions for extreme environmental conditions

SFC Energy AG presented the fifth generation of the EFOY Pro fuel cell a new portfolio of EFOY Pro energy solutions.

With the new generation of compatible systems, SFC Energy meets the highest demands of professional users. These include the EFOY ProCabinet, the EFOY ProTrailer and other mobile and stationary energy solutions. The systems give the EFOY Pro fuel cell even more flexibility and significantly increase the application possibilities – especially in areas without access to the conventional power grid and even in the most adverse weather conditions such as at the North Pole.

The new and once again improved EFOY ProCabinet is a robust outdoor control cabinet solution for the self-sufficient, stationary power supply with EFOY Pro fuel cells. It offers space for up to two EFOY Pro fuel cells and, depending on the application, one or more fuel cartridges and batteries. As usual, the EFOY ProCabinet can be adapted to the individual needs of the customer.

In combination with other housing solutions, the EFOY Pro fuel cell works reliably and generates environmentally friendly electricity at outside temperatures of – 40 ° C and + 50 ° C. As part of the year-round MOSAiC expedition in the central Arctic, the complete energy solution has already proven its potential: With the help of the EFOY Pro system, the researchers were able to carry out measurements on the energy transfer between the atmosphere and ice.

The new EFOY ProTrailer is housed in an insulated NEMA 3R housing and has a vertical mast and a fixed solar bracket. The solution ensures tank autonomy of up to 12 months. This makes the EFOY ProTrailer the perfect solution for short-term or long-term use in unpredictable terrain far away from the conventional power grid.

SFC Energy also makes it easier for users to operate and monitor the individual EFOY Pro locations with the EFOY Cloud. The application provides secure and reliable remote access to each individual unit. This makes monitoring easier and reduces maintenance work to an absolute minimum. Users have direct access to the application and all important parameters via laptop, tablet or smartphone. SFC Energy developed the EFOY Cloud close to the needs of customers. Further IIoT applications can be integrated without any problems. With the further developed EFOY Pro complete energy solutions, SFC Energy offers noticeable added value for all professional users. In addition to the EFOY Pro Generation, the EFOY Jupiter, a high-performance hydrogen fuel cell for power ranges from 2.5 to 50 kW, is part of the SFC Energy portfolio.

“We have been represented in Canada with fuel cell solutions for extreme conditions for more than ten years and therefore have in-depth knowledge of the needs of our customers. Coupled with our expertise in environmentally friendly hydrogen and methanol fuel cells, we are now launching the new generation of complete energy solutions on the market. In this way, we help our customers to reduce their CO2 footprint and make an important contribution to the decarbonization of industrial applications. In the future, the demand for environmentally friendly and decentralized power generators will increase. We see a great opportunity for further growth here and are already offering sophisticated systems on an industrial scale with the EFOY Pro fuel cell and EFOY Pro complete solutions.”
