Lhyfe, a global leader in green and renewable hydrogen production, has been selected by Epinal Urban Community to establish a green hydrogen fuel chain by late 2027.

The project aims to produce green hydrogen for challenging-to-decarbonize sectors such as transportation and industry. Lhyfe utilizes electrolysis of water powered by renewable energy to produce its green and renewable hydrogen. With existing operational sites and ongoing projects, Lhyfe is expanding its footprint and exploring offshore hydrogen production. The proposed hydrogen production site in Epinal will foster industrial growth, align with the region’s ecological strategy, and contribute to local development.

Lhyfe’s mission is to address the decarbonization challenges in the transport sector and industrial processes. These sectors, including trucks, waste collection vehicles, buses, glassmaking, steelmaking, metals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food manufacturing, heavily rely on fossil fuels. By providing green and renewable hydrogen, Lhyfe aims to replace these carbon-intensive fuels and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Lhyfe produces green and renewable hydrogen through the process of electrolysis, which involves splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity. The electricity used in this process is sourced from renewable energy, ensuring that the hydrogen produced is truly green. Lhyfe has already established its first operational site in Pays de la Loire, and five additional sites in France, Germany, and Sweden are currently under construction. The company is also exploring offshore hydrogen production through its Sealhyfe pilot system, which achieved a world-first milestone in June 2023.

The collaboration with Epinal Urban Community aims to establish a large-scale hydrogen production site with a capacity of several megawatts. This site will serve local, transregional, and cross-border demands for green hydrogen. By creating a cutting-edge industrial cluster in the Vosges department, the project aligns with the region’s industrial and territorial ecology strategy. The development of the site is contingent upon obtaining operating authorizations, construction permits, and financial investment decisions.

The establishment of a green and renewable hydrogen production site in Epinal holds significant potential for the region. It will stimulate industrial growth, strengthen the urban community’s industrial ecosystem, and attract further investment. The project aligns with the broader goal of promoting sustainable development and enhancing the area’s attractiveness. The creation of an industrial cluster centered around green hydrogen will not only contribute to the region’s economic growth but also reinforce its commitment to sustainable practices.

Lhyfe’s selection for the development of a green hydrogen fuel chain in Epinal marks a significant milestone in the region’s pursuit of sustainable industrial development. By leveraging the power of electrolysis and renewable energy sources, Lhyfe aims to supply green and renewable hydrogen for challenging-to-decarbonize sectors. The project aligns with the region’s ecological strategy, fostering the growth of an industrial cluster and contributing to local development. As the project progresses, it will be essential to address challenges and secure the necessary permits and investments. Ultimately, the collaboration between Lhyfe and Epinal Urban Community has the potential to transform the region’s industrialTitle Options:
