Wail Al Jaafari and Jumaan Al Zahrani will lead the two new divisions, which will be known as Southern Area Gas Operations and Northern Area Gas Operations, respectively.
The non-legally binding agreement also paves the way for the state’s first hydrogen fuel station to be built in Lewis County, as well as new chances for alternative fuel development.
The Minister of Energy and Mining, Juan Carlos Jobet, was in attendance, as were executives from Enel Green Power Chile, AME, Siemens Energy, Porsche, Enap, and Exxon Mobile, as well as local authorities.
Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will conduct a technical-commercial joint study of a hydrogen supply chain that includes hydrogen production and transportation in methylcyclohexane (MCH) form, in which hydrogen is converted from its gaseous state to a liquid form to enable large-scale deliveries.
The method, which was recently published in the American Chemical Society journal ACS Sustainable Chemical Engineering, converts hydrogen sulfide, also known as “sewer gas,” into hydrogen fuel.
JM’s expansion and scale-up in both sectors will be accelerated by the new merged business unit, which will take advantage of technical and production synergies and draw on JM’s decades of experience designing and manufacturing market-leading fuel cell components.
