The Spanish technology company is developing SoHyCal, a pioneering project to generate up to 1,000 kg of hydrogen per day, for which the California Energy Commission (CEC) has awarded a grant of $ 3.96 million.
The findings, which were reported in Science Advances and JACS Au, suggest that hydrogen might be produced at a lower cost than is now attainable with commercially available catalysts.
Almost 80% of the hydrogen in use today is classified as “gray,” meaning it is derived from natural gas. Making it “blue” necessitates the construction of infrastructure to absorb the greenhouse gases released during the process.
De Havilland Canada will be given options to acquire 50 ZeroAvia hydrogen-electric engines as part of the MOU. These possibilities will be confirmed after De Havilland Canada and ZeroAvia have signed a permanent agreement.
To illustrate how natural gas infrastructure may be decarbonized while balancing future energy supply and demand, the firms will collaborate to create and then mix hydrogen into a university customer’s current natural gas network.
Governor Eduardo Leite, Chief Secretary of the Civil House Artur Lemos, and Secretary of Environment and Infrastructure Luiz Henrique Viana, as well as White Martins’ executive director of Business, Mário César Simon, and other company members, secretaries of state, deputies, and representatives of society, will attend the ceremony.
The demonstration’s purpose is to establish the viability and performance of hydrogen fuel as a viable line-haul rail alternative to existing fuels. Hydrogen has the potential to play a big role in transportation as a lower-carbon alternative to diesel, with hydrogen fuel cells providing a way of reducing emissions.
