The study is significant because employing carbon-free, clean-burning fuels like hydrogen will provide an alternative to carbon-based fuels, which emit greenhouse gases and contribute to climate change. Hydrogen is the most plentiful element in the universe, and it may be made from a variety of sources.
Based on stations that are now Open-Retail or under development, this year’s analysis is the first to suggest that AB 8’s 100-station target might be met by the end of 2023.
Linde’s investment in the plant, which is located at 4501 Royal Ave., is part of the company’s effort to help New York become carbon-neutral and achieve the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), which requires 100 percent zero-emission electricity by 2040.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will conduct a technical-commercial joint study of a hydrogen supply chain that includes hydrogen production and transportation in methylcyclohexane (MCH) form, in which hydrogen is converted from its gaseous state to a liquid form to enable large-scale deliveries.
According to recent research, diesel-powered trucks emit more than 200 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
The method, which was recently published in the American Chemical Society journal ACS Sustainable Chemical Engineering, converts hydrogen sulfide, also known as “sewer gas,” into hydrogen fuel.
