Saft announced on 19 October 2026 the start of Saft solid-state battery production, what it calls France’s first solid-state batteries, on new lines at its Bordeaux site. The title and date come from Saft’s press release page; the release text itself could not be opened for this report, so no capacity, output or cell specification is stated here.
Saft solid-state cells and the aviation link, four days earlier
On 15 October 2026 Safran announced the first cells from its partnership with Saft, described by Safran as semi-solid batteries for aviation. Safran says the cells were made on Saft’s new multi-technology production lines in Bordeaux and move from concept studies to hands-on evaluation, with most validation and integration testing at its Niort system test center. From 2027 the partnership is to extend to all-solid-state cells and batteries.
