Andreas Beckers, CEO of thyssenkrupp, said the company is currently working on a memorandum of understanding with Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity to build a green hydrogen plant, as well as developing a program to develop young talent from various universities to instill an entrepreneurial spirit in them.

The facility will be designed, procured, and built by thyssenkrupp using their large-scale 20 megawatt (MW) alkaline water electrolysis module. After commissioning, the project partners NEOM, ACWA Power, and Air Products (“NEOM Green Hydrogen Company”) will run the plant, which will produce hydrogen that will be synthesized into carbon-free ammonia for export to worldwide markets solely by Air Products.
