The European Commission is collaborating with the European Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center of EIT InnoEnergy to accelerate and de-risk green hydrogen projects. EIT InnoEnergy was founded in 2010 and is funded in part by the EU in order to accelerate Europe’s energy transition. Breakthrough Energy funded the establishment of the European Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center (EGHAC) in 2020. EGHAC fosters industrial players by assisting in the de-risking and acceleration of green hydrogen (and derivatives) projects. This is accomplished by EGHAC through early-stage investment and acceleration services provided in collaboration with its ecosystem. Furthermore, EGHAC assists green hydrogen projects by evaluating…

Torvex Energy collaborated closely with the Material Processing Institute to validate an innovative and “game-changing” method of producing environmentally friendly hydrogen from seawater that does not emit oxygen gas. The independent research and development company in Stockton-on-Tees has patents pending on its unique electrochemical process and has worked with the Institute to establish proof of concept. Torvex Energy, which is backed by an angel investor, has spent several years refining the process to ensure it generates green hydrogen of the highest purity and output. It is now looking for partners and meeting with interested parties in order to move from…

Safran Power Units has placed new orders for Advent’s proprietary Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEAs). Advent’s proprietary high temperature proton exchange membrane technology is used in the MEAs (HT-PEM). Advent’s MEAs were first delivered in the first quarter of 2022, and deliveries are expected to continue into the second quarter. The MEAs will aid Safran Power Units’ research and development efforts. MEAs are the heart of the fuel cell, and their performance determines the end electrochemistry products’ lifetime, efficiency, weight, and, to a large extent, cost. Advent’s MEAs can work with impure hydrogen, which can be reformed on-board from methanol, natural…

The UK government has committed to creating a new public body to improve the energy system’s resilience. The Future System Operator (FSO), which will be established once legislation has been passed and timelines have been discussed with key stakeholders, will examine the entire British energy system, integrating existing networks with emerging technologies such as hydrogen. The FSO will be a new public body based on the Electricity System Operator’s (ESO) and, where applicable, National Grid Gas’ existing capabilities (NGG). It will work with energy suppliers and networks to balance the UK’s electricity systems and ensure that households and businesses have…
