At IAA Mobility 2021, Hyundai Motor Company stated its ambition to become carbon neutral by 2045.
Toyota is looking at every sector to move to more sustainable energy sources to power its manufacturing centers and the automobiles they manufacture as part of its ambition to be carbon neutral by 2035. Toyota is moving its ground-breaking hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric technology from prototypes to production after thousands of miles of real-world testing in the demanding environment of commercial trucking. A fuel cell drive train kit has never been built in a Toyota plant outside of Japan. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hone the talents that will serve as the foundation for their shift into a mobility company.…
According to the Australian Energy Market Operator (Aemo), Australia is projected to begin producing hydrogen from grid-connected electrolyzers in the fiscal year July 2024 to June 2025 and might ramp up output to meet 17 percent of total power demand within five years. Domestic hydrogen production from grid-connected electrolyzers raises overall power demand in the country’s National Electricity Market (NEM) to about 250TWh by 2030-31, according to Aemo’s 2021 Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO) report’s Hydrogen Superpower scenario. This compares to around 175TWh by the same date in Aemo’s central scenario. Exported hydrogen is predicted to account for the majority…
According to an Arab oil exporters organization, the Middle East area is poised to profit on emerging hydrogen trends. During a meeting in Oman, the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) produced a working paper explaining how the regional renewable energy industry may aid in the development of green hydrogen. OAPEC, which has its headquarters in Kuwait, anticipates a significant increase in hydrogen demand as the energy revolution advances. Meanwhile, the proximity of Middle Eastern countries to the European market means that Arab producers are well-positioned to capitalize on green energy developments. Siemens, a German engineering firm, recently signed…
Powerhouse Energy Group and Hydrogen Utopia International (HUI) has signed a contractual licensing agreement which commercializes hydrogen production from waste plastic. HUI has been granted a non-transferable exclusive license to use Powerhouse’s DMG® technology in Poland, Greece, and Hungary. HUI’s purpose is to establish a project pipeline for Powerhouse’s DMG® technology in these regions by obtaining funds from and collaborating with states, regional agencies, and the business sector in designated locations to facilitate DMG® technology deployment. The agreement follows the announcement of non-binding heads of terms with HUI for Poland on 12 November 2020 and Greece and Hungary on 10…
Right Brain Brewery has become the first brewer to commercialize a hydrogen-infused beer. The prospect of infusing beer with hydrogen was too appealing for Right Brain owner and creator Russell Springsteen to pass up. Unruly Brewing in Muskegon, Michigan, has also begun to experiment with putting hydrogen into a beverage. The brewery debuted HyJacked, a hydrogen-infused hard apple cider, in July. Both Right Brain and Unruly were able to bring these products to market thanks to a collaboration with HyVIDA Brands, a Muskegon-based maker of hydrogen-infused sparkling waters sold at Meijer and Family Fare. Along with its own beverages, HyVIDA…
Australian Woodside Petroleum is investigating all hydrogen and ammonia possibilities, whether blue hydrogen, which uses natural gas as a fuel source, or green hydrogen, which is derived from renewable energy. Woodside has signed many agreements to pursue hydrogen development projects, all of which are in the early stages due to the difficult economics of creating blue or green hydrogen or ammonia. In response to investor demand for oil and gas producers to demonstrate an energy transition strategy as well as a commitment to achieving zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the coming decades, the majority of Australia’s key upstream producers…
Fortescue Metals Group’s record profit will see the firm increase its spending on new green energy projects as it prepares to take on the significant emissions footprints of its customers and set a dedicated Scope-3 emissions target. The business said that it will devote additional $1.03 billion in investment to its green energy subsidiary, Fortescue Future Industries, which it would use to fund both its own operations and new green hydrogen production and end-use technologies. Next month, Fortescue will announce a Scope-3 emissions target, which will force the business to take on the significant task of reducing emissions inherent in…
Linde will invest more than $1 billion in decarbonization projects and increase the quantity of clean hydrogen produced by 2028, according to the industrial gas giant’s 2020 Sustainable Development Report. The study emphasizes Linde’s investment across the hydrogen value chain to speed the sustainable energy transition. Linde plans to seek competitive low-carbon hydrogen sources such as energy-efficient steam methane reformers (SMRs) with carbon dioxide collection, electrolysis using renewable power, and exploring novel low-carbon technologies. According to the paper, grey and blue hydrogen are “important stepping stones” on the route to green hydrogen because they “allow the essential frameworks and infrastructures…
