Tokyo Gas America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Gas, has acquired Hecate Energy’s Aktina solar project, a 500MWac/631MWdc solar project located in Wharton County, Texas. Aktina is located near the high-demand Houston load center and will begin construction in Q3 2020. The generated power will be sold to the ERCOT wholesale market. The CrossWind consortium, a joint venture between Shell in the Netherlands and Eneco, has awarded Fugro a contract to deliver geotechnical site investigation solutions to support development of the Hollandse Kust (noord) offshore wind farm. The site investigation solutions will comprise an unexploded ordnance (UXO) site clearance survey followed by a seabed cone penetration test (CPT) investigation. After clearing the sites with the Fugro vessel Atlantis Dweller, Fugro will mobilize its seabed SEACALF Mk V DeepDrive CPT system for the fieldwork, which is scheduled to begin this month and should complete by the end of September. Archer Knight has added offshore wind developments – floating and fixed, as well as subsea oil & gas developments to Flowline, the company’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) market intelligence platform. Solstad Offshore has secured a contract with an undisclosed EPIC contractor for the Construction Support Vessel (CSV) Normand Baltic. The vessel will be utilized in the development phase of an offshore wind project in Taiwan. The contract will start during 1st half 2021 and will have a duration of up to 220 days. Normand Baltic, of STX 06 CD design, was built in 2010. The vessel has a length of 96,3 meters and a beam of 20 meters with the capacity to accommodate 80 persons in total. The new EU Strategy on Offshore Renewable Energy must include a target of 100MW of ocean energy installed in Europe by 2025, Ocean Energy Europe reported. This would be enough to power 100,000 European homes a year, and would pave the way for installing 3GW by 2030 and 100GW by 2050. This target would provide the political impetus and incentives needed to maintain Europe’s position as the global leader in ocean energy and create a new industry for Europe.
