The French Embassy on July 25 hosted the signing ceremony for the corporation agreement between Hydrogene de France SA (HDF Energy) and Saigon Asset Management Corporation (SAM) for the construction of a chain of hydrogen and renewable energy producing projects in Vietnam. Ambassador of the French Republic in Vietnam Nicholas Warnery, Deputy Director of the Economic Department Laurent Chopiton, and Director of Business France Yann de Kerlivio Frollo were present at the ceremony. On behalf of HDF Energy, Mathieu Geze, director for Asia, and Tran Khanh Viet Dzung, head of business development, were present. Managing director Kevin Flaherty and investment…

On a cloudy day in early June of this year, engineers gathered around laptops displaying data on the state, health, and power output of the cells in this first-of-its-kind hydrogen generator, which contained hydrogen fuel cells packed into two 40-foot-long shipping containers. “This is it, it’s running at three megawatts right now,” exclaimed Mark Monroe, a principal infrastructure engineer on Microsoft’s team for datacenter advanced development. Engineers from Plug, who constructed the fuel cell system, erupted in applause and cheers, which penetrated the white noise emanating from the fans atop the shipping containers and pipes emitting steam. Microsoft reached a…
Iberdrola and bp have declared their intent to develop a strategic partnership with the purpose of accelerating the energy transition. Together, the firms want to establish large-scale green hydrogen production hubs in Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, as well as considerably extend the public charging infrastructure for fast EVs to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles. The Chairman of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán, has stated: “with this agreement, we continue advancing in the decarbonization and energy self-sufficiency through the electrification of two key sectors of our economy, transport and industry. The scale of this challenge requires alliances between companies such…
Toyota has also unveiled plans to introduce hydrogen fuel cell light trucks to the Japanese market next year, and the UK has launched a contract-for-difference scheme for large-scale hydrogen projects. In addition, Japanese scientists have designed a ruthenium complex with a nitrogen-containing organic compound to improve proton conduction at high temperatures in fuel cells. Natural gas prices are currently higher than the discounted average cost of hydrogen (LCOH) produced with alkaline electrolyzer technology on an equivalent energy basis in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, Spain, France, Poland and Germany, according to data provided by BloombergNEF. The same is not true…
The Institute of Oil and Gas of Siberian Federal University opened an interindustry research and production center of innovative technologies “SIDERA”. On its basis, the specialists of INiG together with the experts of Russian Hydrogen are engaged in implementation of hydrogen technologies in various production sectors, development of power electronics, as well as increasing the profitability of oil and gas fields. Thus, there are already working prototypes of hydrogen-powered power plants of their own design, which allow increasing the mileage of an electric car by at least two times (about 1000 km). The company plans to technologically improve the existing…
Cepsa and Ohmium International have established a partnership to construct highly efficient green hydrogen projects on the Iberian Peninsula. Cepsa may receive up to 300 MW of installed hydrogen production capacity through the collaboration. Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will collaborate on green hydrogen research and development activities. Commenting on the agreement, Carlos Barrasa, Director of Commercial & Clean Energies at Cepsa, said: “We at Cepsa have many years of experience in the production and handling of energy sources via molecules. As we transition to green hydrogen, this experience gives us a competitive advantage and our collaboration…
Deputy Minister for Energy and Environment Sustainability Dr. Hazland Abang Hipni stated that the Sarawak government is in the process of establishing a hydrogen car assembly facility in Kuching. According to him, this is consistent with the government’s drive toward alternative energy sources, lowering reliance on fossil fuels, and the car industry’s transition to renewable energy. According to Dr. Hazland, the aviation business and the oil and gas industry are the two largest carbon emitters, along with the cement, fertilizer, and cement industries. He noted that Sarawak has its own green economy policy and that the government is currently preparing…
Next month, a second hydrogen manufacturing base will begin operations in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, to increase the energy supply volume to vehicle charging stations in Seoul and surrounding areas. According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, the Pyeongtaek base, located in the Asan Industrial Complex around 60 kilometers south of Seoul, will have the potential to supply 430,000 hydrogen-fueled vehicles, including commercial ones, with energy annually. The Energy Ministry contributed 5 billion won ($3.8 million) to the establishment project, with Gyeonggi Province, Pyeongtaek City, and others subsequently contributing 18.1 billion won. “Once the base is operational, (wholesale and…
In approximately one year, a Douglas County PUD hydrogen facility should be operational. The facility will produce hydrogen that the utility intends to sell from a fuelling station for hydrogen-powered automobiles and other industrial applications. It will also serve to absorb much of the tension that causes the Wells Hydroelectric Project’s river dam to deteriorate. Meaghan Vibbert of the PUD explains that the hydrogen plant will receive the steady signals that are currently sent to the dam’s large mechanical equipment, which must instantaneously adapt to variations in the regional power grid. “The aim is to boost our efficiency and reduce…
Loop Energy has announced that it would present its “next-generation” fuel cell systems on September 19-20, 2022, in an effort to increase the deployment of hydrogen-powered medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The Canadian company’s newest product will be unveiled at the IAA Transportation in Hannover, Germany, with a 120kW output and ‘industry-leading’ features, according to the company’s description. Loop’s planned product launch follows many deployments of its existing fuel cell modules to several manufacturers of hydrogen-powered vehicles in Europe and Australia in 2022 alone. Loop Energy and Slovakian bus maker Mobility & Innovation (M&I) had reached the scale-up phase, with M&I…
