A German green hydrogen technology business that has built 10GW of electrolyser capacity worldwide is establishing a presence in Perth to capitalize on Australia’s burgeoning renewable hydrogen industry. Thyssenkrupp Nucera is an expert in the chlor-alkali process, or electrolysis utilizing salt water, with sodium hydroxide and chlorine as byproducts, having completed hundreds of projects and manufactured 240,000 electrolytic cell elements. The company claims that its choice to establish itself in the capital of Western Australia is the result of a “rational business decision” based on the state’s vast renewable energy potential and well-established export sectors for minerals and energy. Western…
The New South Wales (NSW) government established a relationship with Denmark by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that stipulates the two regions would collaborate on innovation, policy, trade, investment, and technology as they transition to net zero emissions by 2050. The declaration was somewhat nebulous in its breadth and alluded to hydrogen and NSW treasurer and environment minister Matt Kean’s desire to establish the state as a hydrogen leader. Pernille Dahler Kardel, the Danish ambassador to Australia, also said that collaboration on energy exports is a priority for the two governments and suggested that the alliance may have a…
Hydrogen Europe has prepared a position paper titled “Delivering REPowerEU through a robust European hydrogen industry” in response to the European Commission’s Fit for 55 policies and targets and the newly reaffirmed ambitions of the REPowerEU communication (click here to read it). One of the primary foundations of REPowerEU is the Hydrogen Accelerator, which outlines a strategy to double the previous EU renewable hydrogen target to 20 million tons of annual domestic production and 20 million tons of annual imports. To achieve these objectives, the EU must greatly expand its production capacity for novel equipment such as electrolyzers. Infrastructure must…
CoorsTek and Research Partners develop hydrogen that is efficient and scalable for mass production.
Plastic Omnium established a partnership with Hyliko, a mobility expert that decarbonizes heavy vehicle fleets by integrating hydrogen storage systems. The initial phase of the agreement is the purchase of 315 high-pressure hydrogen containers to equip 45 trucks by 2024’s end. The partners also intend to collaborate on the development of new hydrogen storage technologies that will extend truck ranges to over 750 kilometers, a nearly 60 percent increase. Hyliko is the market leader in decarbonization services for fleets of heavy-duty vehicles. It provides transporters and logistics operators with a one-of-a-kind, all-in-one solution that combines the leasing and maintenance of hydrogen-powered…
The facility can create 3,000 metric tons of green hydrogen per year, saving 78,000 metric tons of CO2. Previously, hydrogen was generated at the site via steam methane reforming.
Enertrag, a German company, is planning a large-scale green hydrogen project in Uruguay.
After the summer, a decision on the winners for the offshore wind zone, which is 53 kilometers off the Dutch coast, is expected.
There are three locations under study for the construction of a green hydrogen plant proposed by H2 Green Steel and Iberdrola. One of them is Portugal.
