Nel ASA and SFC Energy AG have formed a joint venture to create the world’s first integrated electrolyser and hydrogen fuel cell system for decentralized energy generation and storage. The development will be hastened by utilizing each party’s mature products and established technology as the foundation for the combined offering. “We are very excited to be joining forces with SFC Energy to jointly extend our industrial offering for environmentally friendly, decentralized energy generation and storage. With their proven track record and years of experience, we see a significant potential in developing solutions together to serve the distributed power generation market,…
Teesside Airport has been named one of the UK’s first pilot areas for hydrogen vehicle testing, as part of the Tees Valley’s designation as the country’s Hydrogen Transport Hub. The £2.5 million project will equip the airport, as well as other significant Tees Valley organizations, with commercial and support vehicles powered entirely by hydrogen. ULEMCo will adapt a ground support tug that tows airplanes to run on hydrogen, while Toyota will offer two Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicles with a range of approximately 400 miles, as well as a forklift truck for use. The trials will demonstrate how hydrogen-fueled vehicles…
China intends to build a complete hydrogen industry chain worth more than $15 billion (CNY100 billion) in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region by 2025, in order to meet the northern metropolitan region’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by 2 million tonnes. This would imply a two-fold increase in the value of the industry chain in two years, from the anticipated CNY50 billion ($457 million) by 2023 under the Beijing Hydrogen Industry Development Implementation Plan (2021-2025). Prior to 2025, the goal is to have a fairly mature hydrogen sector with 10-15 globally competitive industry leaders. The proposal is contingent upon Beijing, China’s capital,…
Green Hydrogen Systems has secured a contract with Octopus Hydrogen to supply electrolysis equipment for a project in the United Kingdom. The order includes the provision of two GHS HyProvideTM A90 electrolysers with a combined capacity of 0.9 MW for green hydrogen generation using solar energy. The electrolysers will be housed in a 40-foot container to create a fully-functional green hydrogen plant. Green Hydrogen Systems’ electrolysers will produce around 389 kg green hydrogen per day when fully operational in Q2 of 2022. Octopus Hydrogen, a provider of ‘green hydrogen as a service,’ is leading the project. Green Hydrogen Systems will…
According to a plan released by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the city of Beijing plans to have over 10,000 fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) on the road and 37 newly constructed hydrogen filling stations by 2025. The plan outlines the particular objectives established by China’s capital for the growth of the country’s hydrogen energy industry. By 2025, the megacity aims to cultivate 10 to 15 worldwide leaders in the hydrogen energy industry chain, establish three to four world-class industrial R&D innovation platforms, and establish an industrial cluster for the manufacturing of hydrogen-related core components and equipment.…
A team from MIT develops feasible guidelines for hydrogen generation from scrap aluminum. As the world moves away from fossil fuels, numerous academics are examining whether clean hydrogen fuel may play a larger role in industries ranging from transportation and manufacturing to construction and power generation. It could be utilized in fuel cell vehicles, boilers that generate heat, gas turbines that generate electricity, and systems for storing renewable energy, among other applications. However, while utilizing hydrogen does not result in carbon emissions, manufacturing it often does. Today, nearly all hydrogen is produced using fossil fuel-based techniques that collectively account for…
S&P Global Platts has launched Australia’s first set of hydrogen price assessments, starting August 16, 2021. Anton Ferkov, Hydrogen Content and Pricing Specialist (APAC) at S&P Global Platts, said: “Our new Australia Hydrogen assessments are in direct response to requests from market participants wanting greater transparency to understand the cost of Hydrogen production in Australia. These assessments strengthen our global suite of Hydrogen prices and reflect Australia’s role as a significant hub for future hydrogen production. Hydrogen continues to attract interest from investors, policymakers and energy market participants as a carrier for clean energy.” Platts launched the world’s first hydrogen…
GAUSSIN announces an initial order from Plug Power Inc. for twenty hydrogen-powered yard trucks (ATM-H2) to be deployed to Plug Power’s existing clients in North America. Plug Power will begin receiving deliveries in November 2021. This initial transaction will enable Plug Power and Gaussin to quickly establish a foothold in the North American logistics sector. Plug Power will leverage its existing network of hydrogen refueling stations and service network, which are already used by customers in logistics centers to refuel material handling equipment. The ATM-H2 is based on the ATM electric skateboard, which is already in use in over 35…
TECO 2030 and Greenstat, a Norwegian energy firm, have signed a memorandum of intent to collaborate on relevant initiatives aimed at building a complete hydrogen value chain. The two parties will collaborate to identify, assess, and engage in relevant projects as part of the agreement. Greenstat will produce green hydrogen to be utilized as fuel in the fuel cells built by TECO 2030 for the projects on which they collaborate. “With the signing of the letter of intent with Greenstat, we have reached a milestone towards building complete infrastructure hydrogen projects,” says Tore Enger, CEO of TECO 2030 ASA. “Together…
