Fugro has been awarded a marine site characterization contract by Energinet for the Danish Energy Island project in the North Sea. The deal is part of Energinet’s preliminary studies for the world’s first ‘hub and spoke’ energy scheme: a renewable island 80 kilometers off the Danish coast that will serve as a transmitting hub for hundreds of nearby wind turbines. Norges Bank Investment Management has agreed to purchase a 50% stake in the Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. The agreement was signed earlier this month, and it is expected to be completed in the second or third quarter of 2021. Norges Bank Investment Management will pay €1.375 million for a 50% stake in the offshore wind farm. The deal would not require any additional debt funding. Ørsted is the seller of the 50% stake. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has invested in Starfire Energy, a Denver, Colorado-based manufacturer of modular chemical plants for the manufacture of green ammonia and hydrogen using proprietary catalyst technology. ITM Power, along with project partners ScottishPower and BOC, has given an update on the Green Hydrogen for Glasgow project. A planning proposal for a 20MW electrolyzer to be located at ScottishPower Renewables’ Whitelee wind farm near Glasgow, the UK’s largest onshore wind farm, has now been submitted. BIOVIC, a Valencian company recently purchased by FACSA, Grupo Gimeno, has taken another step toward green energy by signing an agreement with BayoTech, a US energy technology company, to sell its technologies in Spain and collaborate on project development.
