McDermott International and New Energy Development company have finished the engineering for two 50-megawatt energy projects. Each modular, expandable hydrogen facility can generate approximately 24,000 kilograms of renewable hydrogen per day. “The engineering ingenuity of this design became a reality through the collaboration of many skilled and talented individuals across our two companies. Companies all over the world are looking for tangible solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and this design provides a valuable hydrogen solution to accomplish that goal.”Cesar Canals, senior vice president of CB&I Storage Solutions. Each facility uses New Energy’s patented architecture to power a series of electrolyzers,…

Fugro has been awarded a marine site characterization contract by Energinet for the Danish Energy Island project in the North Sea. The deal is part of Energinet’s preliminary studies for the world’s first ‘hub and spoke’ energy scheme: a renewable island 80 kilometers off the Danish coast that will serve as a transmitting hub for hundreds of nearby wind turbines. Fugro will conduct geophysical and unexploded ordnance (UXO) magnetometry surveys, which will be used to create an advanced geological and geotechnical soil model for wind farm developers to base potential tenders on. The fieldwork will take place from May to…
Norges Bank Investment Management has agreed to purchase a 50% stake in the Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. The agreement was signed earlier this month, and it is expected to be completed in the second or third quarter of 2021. Norges Bank Investment Management will pay €1.375 million for a 50% stake in the offshore wind farm. The deal would not require any additional debt funding. Ørsted is the seller of the 50% stake. Ørsted will continue to be a co-owner and developer of the project. “We are excited to have made our first investment…
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has invested in Starfire Energy, a Denver, Colorado-based manufacturer of modular chemical plants for the manufacture of green ammonia and hydrogen using proprietary catalyst technology. The collaboration will be used to accelerate the growth of commercial-scale technologies to decarbonize ammonia supply and realize its promise as a zero-carbon energy carrier. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, made the investment, joining a group of partners that includes AP Ventures, Chevron Technology Ventures, New Energy Technologies, and Osaka Gas USA. Starfire Energy’s ‘Rapid Ramp NH3’ ammonia synthesis technology uses only renewable energy, air, and water as inputs to generate zero carbon…
ITM Power, along with project partners ScottishPower and BOC, has given an update on the Green Hydrogen for Glasgow project. A planning proposal for a 20MW electrolyzer to be located at ScottishPower Renewables’ Whitelee wind farm near Glasgow, the UK’s largest onshore wind farm, has now been submitted. In addition to industry demand, the proposed electrolyser scale capability has been doubled. ScottishPower anticipates that a decision on the planning proposal will be made by the end of autumn 2021. As part of the Green Hydrogen for Glasgow project, the Whitlee wind farm is the first site for which planning consent…
BIOVIC, a Valencian company recently purchased by FACSA, Grupo Gimeno, has taken another step toward green energy by signing an agreement with BayoTech, a US energy technology company, to sell its technologies in Spain and collaborate on project development. BIOVIC is an environmental consultancy firm that specializes in biogas, biomethane, and green hydrogen plants, as well as waste recovery and renewable energy. In Spain, the company is already carrying out a number of green hydrogen development projects based on biogas and biomethane plants, or manufactured on-site using biomethane through the natural gas network. When biomethane is derived from slurry or…
Technip Energies, a global leader in hydrogen processing, is now a member of Hydrogen Europe. Hydrogen Europe puts together a wide range of European industry participants, scientific agencies, and national and international organisations committed to the delivery of hydrogen technology. It collaborates together with EU agencies (including the European Commission) and promotes the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement, all of which recognize hydrogen as a net zero-emissions society enabler. Technip Energies has been involved in hydrogen refining for over 50 years. With over 270 plants worldwide, they are a leader of the steam reforming process and strive to improve…
Developing the economy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, According to Vision 2030 and the renewable energy initiatives that fall under it.
With the installation and cementing of 160 steel pipes down to a depth of 1,000 meters, the energy service provider EWE has laid the foundation for the planned small test cavern to be built in the salt dome EWE wants to test the safe storage of 100 percent hydrogen in the underground cavity that is being created. “With the research project, we are taking on a pioneering role in Europe. This would mean that large quantities of green hydrogen generated from renewable energies could be stored and used as needed, and would become an indispensable component in order to achieve…
German project developer Dirkshof ordered twenty N117/3600 turbines from the Nordex Group for the citizen wind farm “Reussenkoege” in Germany.
