TSO TenneT and CrossWind, a consortium of Shell and Eneco, have signed agreements for the construction of the offshore grid connection for the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm, off the Dutch coast. The signed agreements concern the realization, connection and transmission of power between the wind farm of CrossWind and the platform of TenneT. Iberdrola is leading a project in Aragón to produce green hydrogen by building a hydrogenerator at the PLAZA Logistics Platform in Zaragoza. It wil have 10 MW of electrolysers capable of producing and supplying green hydrogen to heavy road transport vehicles. This facility, which will be open to the public, represents an investment of more than €36 million and will include building a photovoltaic power plant for self consumption which, as well as supplying renewable energy to Iberdrola, will allow the plant to use only zero-emissions electricity. Wärtsilä has invested a further €1 million in Soletair Power, a Finnish CO2 direct air capture technology company. This follows Wärtsilä’s original €500K investment in Soletair Power made in 2019. Soletair Power has developed a breakthrough solution for capturing the carbon dioxide (CO2) from air in buildings that can be used when creating synthetic renewable fuel. The world’s largest plant for storing green hydrogen in liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC) on an industrial scale is being built at CHEMPARK Dormagen. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is supporting the project with funding of €9 million. The Krefeld-based subsidiary of Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, LOHC Industrial Solutions NRW, will take charge of project management and plant operation. Its investor Covestro Deutschland will provide the site area and, in the future, the green hydrogen. Alexander Dennis (ADL) and BYD UK has taken an order for 22 BYD ADL Enviro200EV electric single deck buses from First Bus. The buses, which are part-funded by the Scottish Government, will be deployed in Glasgow. Using BYD’s battery electric driveline technology, ADL will assemble the buses at its factory in Falkirk, ensuring the investment benefits the local economy in Scotland’s Central Belt. Iberdrola is making progress with its first photovoltaic projects in the Valencia region, which will have an installed capacity of 450 megawatts (MW) and represent an investment of more than ‎€235 million. SFC Energy has introduced the new EFOY Pro fuel cell generation. The new product series reduces operating costs by up to 33%, is smaller, lighter and thus more flexible in use. The entire management of the fuel cell can be controlled via the EFOY Cloud. The spectrum ranges from 42 watts (W) output power of the EFOY Pro 900 to 125 watts of the EFOY Pro 2800. Plug Power has expanded its relationship with Universal Hydrogen. The companies previously partnered to develop a fuel cell-based hydrogen powertrain for regional aircraft. The recent minority investment by Plug Power will enable Universal Hydrogen to complete the construction of a subscale aircraft powertrain by Q2 2021.
