The goal of Aviation H2 to become Australia’s first hydrogen-fueled aviation company is nearing completion, with work on the first modification prototype set to begin soon.
The company has completed the research phase and will soon begin testing and proving the concept by modifying turbofan engines. Following that, they will begin building Australia’s first hydrogen-powered aircraft, which they hope to have in the air by the middle of 2023.
Aviation H2 has been researching various options for powering the plane for several months, including using ammonia instead of jet fuel, pure hydrogen, co-firing, and electric motors.
One of the most important aspects of the strategy is the creation of a method for converting existing aircraft to hydrogen-fueled engines while keeping the majority of the existing certification.
The company says it will launch its second round of seed level funding in the coming weeks to fund the next stages of building Australia’s first hydrogen-powered plane, following a successful research phase.
