Aker Horizons will form a joint venture with Nordkraft to develop sites for power intensive industries in Northern Norway through its wholly-owned subsidiary Aker Narvik. The project is part of Aker Horizons’ plan to create a green industrial hub in the Narvik area. Aker Horizons and its portfolio companies are establishing green value chains for power-intensive industries by combining their hydrogen and renewable energy capabilities. Starting with acquiring Nordkraft’s rights to the sites at Kvandal, Fjellbu, Balsfjord, Korgen, and Straumsmo, the JV aims to develop attractive sites for power-intensive industries, with roads and other common infrastructure such as water supply,…

India’s first pure green hydrogen pilot plant with an installed capacity of 10 kilograms per day has been commissioned by Oil India Limited at its Jorhat Pump Station in Assam. The plant uses a 100 kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolyser array to produce green hydrogen from the electricity generated by the existing 500kW solar plant. This is the first time AEM technology has been used in India. Prime Minister’s goal of an energy-independent India has been achieved in part by the company. Green hydrogen production will increase from 10 kg per day to 30 kg per day at this…
J.P. Nauseef, President and CEO, JobsOhio, said his organization commissioned this study before the IIJA was passed and that JobsOhio is committed to growing the hydrogen economy in Ohio, especially for industrial use. “The report clearly shows that hydrogen has the potential to fuel economic growth, innovation, and job creation in the state while significantly reducing carbon emissions,” SARTA CEO Kirt Conrad said. “The one key question left on the table: will state government and the private sector make the investment necessary to unleash that potential?” “The study provides clear and convincing evidence that Ohio not only meets but exceeds…
Integrated reversible power-to-gas systems developed by researchers at Stanford University and the University of Mannheim in Germany provide a solution: hydrogen fuel cells that can be easily converted back to electricity at higher power prices. New research shows that reversible fuel cells can be a financially viable source of backup electricity during periods of surging prices, such as Texas experienced in 2021 when winter storms knocked out natural gas-fueled power stations. As the research reveals, having the ability to change directions allows the entire system to operate closer to its maximum potential. Carbon-free hydrogen and carbon-free electricity can be produced…
The UK government has announced a £375 million package of funding to support innovative energy technologies that will power British homes and businesses for decades. £240 million will go toward hydrogen production as a clean, low-cost energy technology, £2.5 million will go toward developing next-generation nuclear technology, and a further £5 million will go toward carbon capture research. The funding announcement came after the government released its British energy security strategy, which outlines how the UK will accelerate the deployment of wind, new nuclear, solar, and hydrogen while supporting domestic oil and gas production in the short term – potentially…
Bechtel has been chosen by CWP Global to assist in the development of large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia facilities. The agreement establishes a foundation for the partnership to provide ongoing conceptual and early planning solutions for determining the best integrated facility configurations. CWP has developed, financed, and constructed over 1.5 GW of renewable energy projects in Europe and Australia, and is currently developing upwards of 140 GW of renewable energy capacity on three continents for the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Bechtel Energy Technologies & Solutions (BETS), a company dedicated to assisting customers in achieving net zero energy,…
The H2ME2 (Hydrogen Mobility Europe) and ZEFER (Zero Emission taxi Fleets for European Rollout) projects, both funded by Europe’s Clean Hydrogen Partnership, have deployed 100 hydrogen taxis in Copenhagen with app-based taxi company DRIVR. Following the installation and opening of a new hydrogen refueling station (HRS) in the city, the Toyota Mirais now run on green hydrogen generated from renewable energy. With the latest taxi deployments in three capital cities, the ZEFER project has reached its full complement of 180 FCEVs in high-utilisation, captive fleets across Europe (Paris, London and Copenhagen). The taxis in Copenhagen will join 60 taxis previously…
The Vermont Clean and Resilient Energy Consortium, led by Norwich University and the University of Vermont, will bring together manufacturing and electric utility companies, as well as state and local Vermont government officials, to develop and deliver clean energy. The nonprofit consortium will seek funding for clean-energy research and economic and commercial development, according to a statement from the University of Vermont, and will collaborate on projects to support clean-energy delivery, renewable energy, decarbonization, and energy resiliency. Burlington Electric, Renewable Energy Vermont, Green Mountain Power, Vermont Electric Power, the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies, GlobalFoundries, and the Vermont State Colleges…
Cornell and two Cornell research startups have joined a consortium aimed at proposing a Northeast research hub to make hydrogen a viable, clean-energy alternative to carbon-based fuels. Gov. Kathy Hochul is leading the multistate collaboration, which is organized by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). With approximately $9.6 billion in federal funding available, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is expected to request proposals in early May for regional hydrogen centers that would provide a wide range of services, including research and demonstration projects. The Northeast group intends to apply for some of the federal funds.…
To power material handling lift trucks, Plug Power announced a deal with Walmart for up to 20 tons of liquid green hydrogen per day. This is one of Plug’s first green hydrogen supply contracts, validating its multi-year green hydrogen network investment. Green hydrogen is created by electrolyzing water with zero-carbon electricity, emitting only harmless oxygen as a result. Plug will deliver green hydrogen to Walmart facilities using a fleet of liquid transport Plug has put into service using capabilities gained from its recent acquisition of Applied Cryo Technologies. A 50-fleet pilot in 2012 was followed by a fleet of 9,500…
