The final call for the EU-funded MaRINET2 project has opened, targeted at offshore energy technology developers who are looking to test their device or components. The project offers fully-funded access to a world-leading network of testing and research infrastructures in Europe. Duke Energy has recently began operating the largest battery system in the in North Carolina. In the city of Asheville, a 9-megawatt (MW) lithium-ion Samsung battery system is operating next to a Duke Energy substation in the Shiloh community. With a total cost of less than $15 million, the project will primarily be used to help the electric system operate more efficiently. MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a significant order for delivery of the mission-critical system to be installed on the OHT offshore wind foundation installation vessel, Alfa Lift, being built at the China Merchants Heavy Industry shipyard in Jiangsu, China. The order, which is the largest single vessel contract secured to date by MacGregor, was booked in Cargotec’s 2020 third quarter order intake.
