The final call for the EU-funded MaRINET2 project has opened, targeted at offshore energy technology developers who are looking to test their device or components. The project offers fully-funded access to a world-leading network of testing and research infrastructures in Europe. Duke Energy has recently began operating the largest battery system in the in North Carolina. In the city of Asheville, a 9-megawatt (MW) lithium-ion Samsung battery system is operating next to a Duke Energy substation in the Shiloh community. With a total cost of less than $15 million, the project will primarily be used to help the electric system operate more efficiently. Falck Renewables and Eni New Energy US, through Novis Renewables (Novis), a partnership with 51% and 49% shares respectively, have signed an agreement with Building Energy to acquire Building Energy Holdings US (BEHUS). Vestas has secured a 409 MW order from the joint venture between Votorantim Energia and the Canadian fund CPP Investments for the projects Ventos do Piauí II and Ventos do Piauí III, in Serra do Inácio, in the state of Piauí, in Brazil. Leyline Renewable Capital has entered into a financing arrangement with Core Solar, a developer of utility-scale, de-risked solar energy projects. ReneSola has informed that commercial operation of a 21.05 MWp portfolio of community solar projects in Minnesota has started. ReneSola Power developed and subsequently sold this community solar portfolio to Nautilus Solar Energy. The community solar portfolio developed by ReneSola Power is qualified under Xcel Energy’s community solar program in Minnesota and began commercial operation in July and August 2020. MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a significant order for delivery of the mission-critical system to be installed on the OHT offshore wind foundation installation vessel, Alfa Lift, being built at the China Merchants Heavy Industry shipyard in Jiangsu, China. The order, which is the largest single vessel contract secured to date by MacGregor, was booked in Cargotec’s 2020 third quarter order intake.
