HESTA, an Australian superannuation fund, has agreed to invest up to $100 million in three green hydrogen projects held by Countrywide Hydrogen subsidiary ReNu Energy.

Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Salah, Mauritania’s Minister of Mines and Energy, and Bernard Looney, the CEO of BP, both signed the memorandum.

The project calls for the startup of 100 megawatts (MW) of electrolyzers, with the potential to grow to 500 MW if the market permits for Abono green hydrogen plant.

Alikhan Smailov, the prime minister, and Andrew Forrest, the CEO of Fortescue, signed the agreement at the World Leaders Summit of the 27th Conference on Climate Change (COP27) in Egypt.
