Recently, at TOC Europe in Rotterdam, PACECO Group debuted their Hydrogen Fuel Cell for Container Rubber-Tire-Gantry RTG cranes to the European market. NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), a Japanese public research and development organization, awarded PACECO Group a grant in collaboration with its parent company Mitsui E&S Machinery in an effort to revolutionize the ecological transition in the cargo handling industry. In 2009, the company introduced a hybrid RTG with a smaller diesel engine and lithium-ion batteries for additional power, as well as the NZE Transtainer RTG, a near-zero emission crane with a small diesel engine that…

The Thames Estuary has the potential to be the driving force behind the hydrogen revolution in the United Kingdom. No other region has the necessary infrastructure, location, large project pipeline, and partners to make hydrogen use a reality. At a recent industry-led Hydrogen Supplier Day, the Thames Estuary Growth Board convened all of the major partners to outline the vision and opportunities. The event, held in collaboration with Lower Thames Crossing and Thames Freeport and with the support of their advisers Ikigai, highlighted the technology and solutions available to assist the Estuary in its journey to net zero. Partners in…
The Scottish Affairs Committee will hear testimony from bp’s head of country and Shell UK Upstream’s Energy Transition Manager regarding the role hydrogen could play in the energy mix. Their panel will be preceded by the Chief Executive of Hydrogen UK and the Energy Policy Manager of Offshore Energies UK as the Committee evaluates what problems the sector confronts and what support the UK Government can provide to promote the use of low carbon hydrogen. Due to North Sea oil and gas deposits, Scotland has access to secure geological storage, and as such could play a vital role in the…
IH2A’s 25/25 National Green Hydrogen Hub Development Plan focuses on the creation of scalable green hydrogen projects and hubs that can expand to gigawatt-scale projects within three years. The plan’s suggestions are: 1) India should construct at least 25 scalable green hydrogen projects with a total installed electrolyser capacity of 150 MW by 2025. These projects should be designated as first-generation ‘national green hydrogen projects’ – 12 industrial de-carbonisation projects in the chemicals, refining, and steel industries; three heavy-duty transport projects, three H2-blending in CGD projects, and seven distributed waste-to-H2 municipal projects. 2) Five National Green Hydrogen Hubs in Gujarat,…
UFSC starts to invest in research to foster an innovative mindset in the field in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, the German Technical Cooperation.
The project could cost up to 165 million euros, and it will result in the creation of 210 jobs during construction and an additional 100 jobs after each initiation, split equally between direct and induced jobs.
The Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field is reviving an earthquake-ravaged region and significantly bolstering Japan’s ambitions to establish a hydrogen society. Since the 1970s, various countries have been attempting to develop a role for hydrogen in their energy systems, despite the fact that the global interest in hydrogen produced from renewable energy may feel comparatively recent. Since 1974, when it formed the “Sunshine Project,” Japan has actively investigated the production of hydrogen, and since 1978, it has conducted research and development on fuel cell technology under the “Moonlight Project.” However, the country did not adopt an official strategy for hydrogen…
