The Queensland government has pledged $15 million to the establishment of a Gladstone hydrogen export facility owned by the people. The financing will assist in the development of a large-scale electrolysis and liquefaction plant in Central Queensland that will be capable of producing 800 tonnes per day of pure, green hydrogen by the early 2030s. Deputy Premier Steven Miles stated that the State Government is sending a message to its Japanese partners that Queensland is the ideal worldwide provider of reliable, affordable, and clean energy. The Gladstone project is being constructed in collaboration with international corporations like Iwatani Corporation, Kawasaki…

Lloyd’s Register has given Approval in Principle to ACUA Ocean, a UK-based developer of marine autonomous surface ships, for its hydrogen system, control engineering system, and electrical power distribution systems on the world’s first zero-emission hydrogen-powered MASS. In March 2022, Factory Acceptance Testing was conducted on the prototype systems as part of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, which was financed by the Department for Transport and delivered in cooperation with Innovate UK. ACUA has been working under a Connected Places Catapult Transport Research Innovation Grant (TRIG) to automate the onboard hydrogen systems, giving both improved safety and decision-making processes. John…

Ceres Power has signed a contract with Shell to produce a megawatt scale solid oxide electrolyzer (SOEC) prototype by 2023. Shell and Ceres are forming this partnership to leverage SOEC technology to offer high-efficiency, low-cost green hydrogen, which is now widely regarded as a credible method for decarbonizing elements of the energy system that rely heavily on fossil fuels. Ceres seeks to manufacture hydrogen at efficiencies roughly 20 percent higher than previous technologies, in the range of mid-80s to 90 percent where it is viable to utilize waste heat in industrial processes to drive this high efficiency. Ceres has committed…
