Tsuneishi and CMB unveiled the world’s first hydrogen-powered ferry, the HydroBingo. HydroBingo was developed as a result of a joint venture between the two firms, JPNH2YDRO. The HydroBingo is the world’s first commercially available 80-passenger ferry powered by two hydrogen diesel combustion engines. The Port of Corpus Christi Authority and Howard Midstream Energy Partners, LLC (Howard/HEP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) expressing their aim to convert Howard’s Javelina refinery services facility into the region’s first carbon-neutral hydrogen production facility. Howard’s Javelina facility is conveniently located in the Port of Corpus Christi and is connected to all six local refineries via pipeline. Javelina controls around sixty million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of hydrogen production via a combination of hydrogen entrained in the refineries’ waste gas and hydrogen created via a steam methane reformer process. Everfuel A/S has secured the building permit and selected CJ A/S as the contractor for the HySynergy Phase I electrolyzer in Fredericia, Denmark. HySynergy’s development will enable large-scale synthesis and storage of green hydrogen, hence lowering Europe’s CO2-emissions. The facility will have a daily production capacity of around 8 tons of green hydrogen produced from renewable energy and a storage capacity of 10 tons.
