ENEOS Corporation will begin a demonstration using hydrogen extracted from methylcyclohexane (“MCH”), an organic hydride that acts as a carrier for hydrogen, at ENEOS refining facilities, with the goal of developing a CO2-free hydrogen supply chain. This is the first demonstration of MCH dehydrogenation in Japan, utilizing existing refining facilities. After announcing the commencement of the development of its 600 kW powertrain for use in 19-seat aircraft late last year, ZeroAvia has reached the first significant milestone for the HyFlyer II program. The ground test, pictured below, utilized ZeroAvia’s 600kW flight-intent motor to tow the company’s new 15-ton HyperTruck mobile ground testing platform across the tarmac. Namibia is expected to receive approximately N$682,3 million (around US$45m) in funding from the German government to support research into green hydrogen ventures. The financing, which is around 40 million euros, was revealed on Tuesday in conjunction with the publication of the green hydrogen request for proposals (RFP) and the presentation of the second Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPPII) first quarter report. Tallgrass Energy, LP announced that it has completed the acquisition of a 75% membership stake in Escalante H2 Power (EH2 Power). The Indian Railways has issued a tender for the operation of trains using a hybrid hydrogen fuel cell and battery-based technology as part of its efforts to reduce pollution and fuel costs. Initially, it intends to convert two diesel-electric multiple unit (DEMU) rakes on Northern Railway’s 89-kilometer Sonipat-Jind stretch using hydrogen power. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Research (EBRD) and Ukraine’s Gas Transmission System Operator (GTSOU) have teamed up to boost hydrogen development and use in the country.
