The goal of the memorandum of agreement signed by Fincantieri and Enel Green Power Italia is to provide an integrated solution for the production, supply, management, and use of green hydrogen in port regions and long-range maritime transport. The two organizations want to leverage their respective sectors’ knowledge and know-how to develop potential sustainable and innovative solutions. “The signing of this agreement” commented Carlo Zorzoli, Head of Business Development for Enel Green Power “represents a further step forward in Enel Green Power’s commitment to collaborating with operators interested in developing solutions for the use of green hydrogen in sectors where electrification…
By 2024, Gazprom Neft intends to create 250,000 tonnes of hydrogen. Gazprom Neft has joined a new hydrogen consortium to promote initiatives developing novel technologies for the production, transportation, storage, and use of hydrogen as part of this push. With over 100,000 tonnes of hydrogen produced at its technological facilities, the gas business will contribute its experience to advancing hydrogen adoption. Gazprom will now serve on the Council of Industrial Partners of the Technological Hydrogen Valley consortium, which is supporting hydrogen projects in Russia’s Tomsk, Sakhalin, and Samara areas, as well as the city of Chernogolovka in the Moscow region.…
Loop Energy announced a cooperative market development agreement with Técnicas Reunidas (TR), a global provider of services to hydrogen infrastructure investors headquartered in Madrid, Spain. Both parties intend to capitalize on future prospects that will require both TR’s hydrogen expertise and Loop Energy’s fuel cell technology. This joint market agreement’s initial scope is focused on providing hydrogen-based solutions to several key vertical markets, including transportation agencies, truck, transit, and coach bus fleets, materials handling, warehouse and port logistics, including drayage, urban delivery services, and stationary power applications. Loop will be able to provide more convenient and cost-effective hydrogen solutions to…
bp has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with a number of additional prospective clients for its proposed clean hydrogen manufacturing facility in Teesside, north-east England. bp unveiled plans for a clean hydrogen project in Teesside (H2Teesside) in March. The facility would attempt to produce up to 1GW of ‘blue’ hydrogen by 2030, accounting for 20% of the UK’s hydrogen target. Simultaneously, it announced the signing of preliminary memorandums of understanding to scope the supply of hydrogen to chemicals company Venator and gas distributor Northern Gas Networks. “Teesside has all the attributes of a world-class clean hydrogen hub – the…
Over the following 24 months, PowerTap Hydrogen Capital expects to build a minimum of 100 hydrogen fueling stations in partnership with several Middle Eastern governments. This will assist the Middle East in adopting hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and with only two stations located throughout the UAE, PowerTap is well positioned to establish the region’s hydrogen highway. Additionally, the projected hydrogen highway will make use of a significant portion of the country’s 643 filling stations. Initially, PowerTap intends to launch its products throughout the UAE, which might result in the UAE becoming one of the first countries to have a statewide…
Horisont Energi and the Port of Rotterdam have agreed to establish a corridor for the transportation of blue ammonia from Norway to Rotterdam. According to the agreement, Horisont Energi and the Port of Rotterdam will explore a collaboration to export blue ammonia produced in Northern Norway from natural gas with carbon capture and storage to the port of Rotterdam for further distribution to fulfill anticipated demand in Northwestern Europe. The final investment decision for the Barents Blue project’s blue ammonia production is scheduled by the end of 2022. By 2025, blue ammonia could be delivered to Rotterdam. Once operational, Barents…
Universal Hydrogen, based in Los Angeles and directed by Paul Eremenko, a former chief technology officer and leading visionary for clean energy at both Airbus and United Technologies, is developing technology to convert mid-sized turboprop aircraft to hydrogen operation. A bold new project there intends to convert small regional turboprop aircraft to hydrogen fuel, test and certify them for passenger transport, and perhaps provide a long-term answer to aviation’s carbon emissions by establishing that hydrogen aviation is economically viable. AeroTEC of Seattle, MagniX of Everett, and Plug Power of New York, which operates a hydrogen fuel cell facility in Spokane,…
Damorphe, a nanotechnology firm based in the United States, is developing a hydrogen production method based on a rare earth oxide alloy that dissolves in water. The company claims the technology has the ability to deliver clean hydrogen for as little as $1 per kilogram. The company, which specializes in nanomaterials for niche applications ranging from aerospace and defense to energy and healthcare, is collaborating with partners to create a demonstration facility capable of producing 1 million tons of hydrogen per day in California. Carmine Battista, chief commercial officer and CEO of Damorphe’s hydrogen division, told S&P Global Platts in…
Hyundai Motor has acquired a stake in H2 MOBILITY, a provider of hydrogen infrastructure. Hyundai becomes the company’s first shareholder outside the original group of TotalEnergies, Shell, OMV, Linde, Air Liquide, and Daimler. Hyundai Motor Deutschland is the subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company. Hyundai has been an affiliated partner in the development of hydrogen infrastructure in Germany since H2 MOBILITY was created in 2015. This step demonstrates the company’s commitment to hydrogen fuel cell technology by assisting in the expansion of the infrastructure required to power the company’s fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). Hyundai emphasized the critical importance hydrogen and…
POWER Engineers and Stellar J Corporation have been selected by Raven SR to finish the final design of two facilities that will convert green garbage and food into green hydrogen for use in commercial transportation. These facilities will be located in the San Francisco Bay area and will utilize Raven SR’s commercial systems, which are capable of converting 200 tonnes of landfill garbage into ten tonnes of renewable hydrogen. This is sufficient to power around 200 heavy-duty trucks or 1,250 passenger vehicles per day when completed in summer 2022. The distinctive feature of this waste-to-hydrogen technology is that it has…
