Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has inaugurated a Green Hydrogen Plant at its AM Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat. Mr. Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, inaugurated the plant. Today marks the beginning of Green Hydrogen production via an alkaline electrolysis process. The plant will generate 45 kg of green hydrogen per day, which will be consumed exclusively by the Hazira manufacturing complex. Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) announced the groundbreaking for a revolutionary advanced hydrogen generation facility at SunLine Transit Agency in Thousand Palms, California. Bord na Móna announced this week that its Cloncreen Wind Farm in Edenderry was commencing operations, and suggested that it was also moving forward with a number of other prospective renewable energy projects in the region. These include the installation of a pilot hydrogen plant within its existing Mountlucas Wind Farm in Offaly. With the success of its Uber Green service in Germany, the renowned VTC platform plans to expedite the nationwide deployment of hydrogen vehicles. Uber Green enables users to reserve rides in electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. In Germany, the service was initially introduced in Munich in 2018 before progressively expanding to other locations. Australian refiner Ampol has postponed plans for a pilot hydrogen production facility.

According to a CSIS analysis, China presently produces 33 million tons of hydrogen annually, the majority of which is derived from fossil fuels.

A total of more than 550 jobs are expected to be created during construction, with up to 350 positions possible at its height, and an additional 140 jobs will be maintained after the facility is operating.
