Crown Estate Scotland has allocated three new areas in the North Sea, east of the Shetland Islands, for the construction of floating wind farms. The areas complement the massive investment in offshore wind energy announced by the ScotWind project earlier this year. In the process, seventeen projects were initially announced. With the three additional areas, ScotWind would build out an offshore capacity of 27.6 gigawatts. Energy Security In January of this year he ScotWind already announced seventeen projects for offshore wind energy. These mentioned a capacity of 24.8 gigawatts, with floating wind farms to represent a capacity of almost 15.1…
Everfuel declared its intention to construct a hydrogen hub in Holstebro, Denmark, to assist regional energy transformation and expedite the scale-up of green hydrogen as an emission-free fuel for industry and transportation. With the intention of generating a safe, dependable, and efficient local source of renewable energy, the hub will be created in two phases in close collaboration with industrial and mobility partners. “The hub-concept represents a novel approach to scaling green hydrogen. It offers a strong value proposition for industry, the transport sector and municipalities, which is evident in the partner set up we can announce today,” says Jacob…
ABB and Hydrogen Optimized Inc. (HOI), a Canadian technological pioneer that enables large-scale generation of green hydrogen, have inked an agreement to expand their current strategic cooperation. This includes an investment by ABB in Key DH Technologies Inc. (KEY), the parent company of HOI, as they attempt to accelerate the rapidly developing segment of green hydrogen generation with a novel large-scale architecture. The agreement’s financial specifics were not disclosed. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the German-Canadian Atlantic Renewable Hydrogen Expo on August 23, 2022 in Stephenville, Newfoundland, where the two firms displayed their green…
In Germany, the 100% hydrogen-powered train line will be launched following testing. In an effort to cut greenhouse gas emissions, the nation has formed a partnership with Canada, a green hydrogen producer. Wednesday, Germany will inaugurate a completely hydrogen-powered train line, a “world first” and a huge step toward the decarbonization of railways, despite the supply issues created by this revolutionary technology. On the one hundred kilometers of track connecting Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde, and Buxtehude, near Hamburg, a fleet of fourteen trains, supplied by the French company Alstom, will replace the existing diesel locomotives. Hydrogen-powered trains are the preferred method…
Energy from renewable Canadian sources, shipped for the first time in as little as three years – various foundations have to be laid for the new alliance with Ottawa under the pressure of the Ukraine war. Germany and Canada have agreed on long-term cooperation for the production and transport of hydrogen. German Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) and Canadian Energy Minister Jonathan Wilkinson signed an agreement in Stephenville in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador that will lead to the export of hydrogen from Canada to Germany starting in 2025. Habeck described the agreement as a milestone: “Green hydrogen is…
According to the MoU, collaborative research will be done with the goal of setting up a 60MW class gas turbine combined cycle plant that runs entirely on ammonia.
Jungfrau, an autonomous hypersonic aircraft constructed by Swiss company Destinus at a cost of 25.5 million euros, will reportedly be capable of reaching Mach 15 speeds. This vehicle utilizes hydrogen as a fuel source, therefore it might serve as a greener and speedier alternative to current flights. According to the business, the Jungfrau is halfway between an airplane and a rocket, as it will execute operations similar to those of an airplane, but will be able to rise and accelerate to speeds greater than the speed of sound. The prototype they intend to construct will reach heights of up to…
The hydrogen sector has waited a long time for the news, but now that the first projects accepted for state funding under the IPCEI* have been announced, it is time to move on to the next step. The sector appears essential for the future and is undergoing a frenzy of technology advancements and financial transactions, but uncertainties persist. Currently, the majority of support comes from the supply side, but will there be sufficient demand to fund investments? Will it be economically feasible to transport hundreds of kilometers of hydrogen produced near a wind farm? Will there be sufficient renewable electricity…
Powerhouse Energy Group and Hydrogen Utopia International have reached an agreement for the cooperative development of a non-recyclable waste plastic hydrogen facility in Konin, Poland. Declares that it will split the development expenditures for the project with HUI. Powerhouse Energy undertakes to pay a fixed amount of €250,000 for any expenditures spent by HUI in developing the site, and the Konin project will be recognized as part of HUI’s contribution to the development costs of the JV. HUI will additionally receive a premium of €250,000, increasing Powerhouse’s total commitment to HUI to €500,000. London-based Hydrogen Utopia International is a pioneer…
Following the December 2021 memorandum of understanding, Shell Plc is withdrawing from the green hydrogen project in which it had planned to collaborate with BlueScope Steel Ltd. The energy giant is withdrawing from the New South Wales project following an assessment of proposals. Shell is withdrawing from the Australian green hydrogen project after completing a comprehensive study and scoping of its activities. The agreement was for the investigation and development of renewable H2 projects located near the steelmaker’s Port Kembla Steelworks in the Illawarra region of New South Wales.
