The first ammonia-powered tractor with zero emissions successfully completed its first demonstration drive at Stony Brook University’s Advanced Energy Center in New York. The diesel engine on the midsize John Deere tractor was replaced with a “ammonia to power” system invented by the startup Amogy. The system converts the high-energy chemical to hydrogen, which is then used to power a 100 kW hydrogen fuel cell. Although most EV coverage focuses on consumer-oriented passenger cars and light trucks, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles account for over a quarter of U.S. vehicle emissions and are crucial decarbonization objectives. The low energy density of…
Industry should be required to save more energy starting in 2023. In at least thirty major cities, inner-city deliveries must become emission-free after 2025. And the Dutch government is investigating whether companies should be required to purchase sustainable hydrogen from 2026. These intentions are part of the Climate Policy Program that Minister Rob Jetten (Climate and Energy, D66) is sending to the Lower House this Thursday. This program is intended to implement a more stringent climate policy in the coming years, so that greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced more quickly. In order to certainly meet Europe’s requirement – 55…

China’s largest oil and gas producer intends to convert 50 percent of its output to hydrogen, geothermal energy, and renewable power by 2050, in line with the country’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions. China National Petroleum Corp. mentioned the goal in its environmental protection report, which it published on its website on Wednesday, stating that oil and gas would continue to account for the other half of its output by then. The corporation is the parent of PetroChina Co., which stated in its March annual report that it wants to generate 50 percent of its output from renewable sources by…
EnerVenue has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the delivery of its energy storage solution to a Puerto Rico-based customer. Sonnell Power Solutions, the energy division of transportation and logistics services provider Grupo Sonnell, will acquire and deploy 40 MWh of EnerVenue’s EnerStation battery systems in 2023 under the terms of the agreement. EnerVenue stated that volume will expand to 420 MWh between 2024 and 2025. Following 2017’s destruction by Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico’s power grid has remained in poor condition. According to EnerVenue, since then, local businesses have been willing to adopt alternative energy and grid-resilient solutions, and…
