The first phase of a ground-breaking green energy initiative has been revealed, which could help Britain significantly reduce its carbon emissions and pave the way for a low-carbon hydrogen economy. Hydrogen emits no carbon dioxide when burned, making it a feasible alternative for heating homes and businesses in order to meet the Government’s goal of Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, in contrast to natural gas, which accounts for more than 30% of carbon emissions. Tasmania’s Renewable Hydrogen Action Plan lays the groundwork for Tasmania to become a world leader in large-scale renewable hydrogen generation by 2030. Renewables Tasmania has conducted an Industry Activation Study to identify projects that have the potential to increase local hydrogen demand. This study is critical to Tasmania realizing and implementing its renewable Hydrogen potential. The Tasmanian Government has allocated up to $12.3 million in funding from the $50 million Tasmanian Renewable Hydrogen Industry Development Funding Program to implement the Study’s recommendations. At the international COMTRANS-2021 show in Moscow, KAMAZ unveiled the KAMAZ-6290 hydrogen fuel cell bus. The bus chassis and body were assembled in Bashkiria by NEFAZ, a KAMAZ Group affiliate. KAMAZ’s research and technology facility was equipped with the roof equipment. The body is constructed of high-strength steel and plastic, ensuring the necessary durability and safety during an emergency.
