The gigafactory will produce Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) hydrogen electrolyzers built in India, with an initial production capacity of 500 MW per year and a capacity of 2 GW per year.
The project will help the government meet its goal of putting 6.2 million hydrogen vehicles on the road by 2040, including 5.9 million passenger cars, 60,000 buses, 120,000 taxis, and 120,000 trucks.
It plans to do so by forming a joint venture with municipal governments and relevant industries.
Petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and coal can all be replaced by hydrogen fuel. It can even power fossil-fuel-powered hydrogen generators for electrification and use.
The power system and battery of the 100 vehicles is independently developed and produced by key Chinese auto producer Great Wall’s wholly-owned subsidiary FTXT Energy.
