Standard Solar is bringing more than 8,000 MWh of annual energy supply to Maryland community solar subscribers, in partnership with Ogos Energy, Earth and Air Technologies and Neighborhood Sun. The two projects, a combined 5.5 megawatts (MW), are expected to provide savings and clean power to approximately 800 Maryland households as subscribers. “Community solar is an effective way to provide large numbers of subscribers access to the benefits of clean energy. Community solar projects engage a community, starting with ratepayers interested in savings and clean energy, a land owner to provide or host the site, a servicing utility to approve…
Vattenfall and the European clean energy investor Glennmont Partners have signed a long-term agreement to provide balancing services for Piiparinmäki, a new 211 MW onshore wind farm in Finland. The onshore wind farm Piiparinmäki, acquired by Glennmont Partners in September last year, is located in central Finland near Kajaani and will have 41 turbines. Once operational, Piiparinmäki, will be the largest wind farm in Finland with an estimated yearly production of approximately 700 GWh. “We are very happy to be a part of this project and expand our presence in Finland. Due to our long experience in Finland and a…
Limejump has been awarded the contract to trade the power output of the first subsidy-free Scottish wind farm using wind turbines at Crossdykes Wind Farm in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland. The 46MW onshore wind farm, developed and owned by Muirhall Energy and WWS Development, is one of the first subsidy-free wind farms in the UK. Notably, Crossdykes is the first subsidy-free wind farm to enter the Grid Balancing Mechanism, and is the largest wind site to enter Limejump’s generation portfolio. With Crossdykes, Limejump has used intelligent price management to offset risk via a “track & trade” Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).…
ABO Wind Oy and Gasum Oy have entered into a long-term agreement on wind farm output. Under the ten-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Gasum will begin to sell renewable wind power produced in North Ostrobothnia to its customers starting in 2023. The agreement will enable the partners Gasum and ABO Wind to increase the availability of renewable Finnish energy and at the same time more wind power will be built in Finland. Domestic wind power will increase Finland’s self-sufficiency in electricity generation. The agreement covers a 9-turbine wind farm of Nordex N149 turbines with a total output capacity of around…
Palladium Energy has entered into a joint venture agreement with Inverdale Energy Partners to form Palladium Energy Development. The company will develop an initial portfolio of 500 megawatts of utility-scale solar and solar + storage projects across the United States leveraging the development and capital markets expertise of both Palladium and Inverdale. “This partnership empowers our team to develop a significant pipeline of solar and solar + storage projects, and satisfy the rapidly growing demand for renewable energy from states, utilities and corporate power purchasers across the country.” Nobel Chang, managing partner at Palladium. “Palladium is committed to providing low-cost,…
First Solar has supplied its advanced Series 6 photovoltaic (PV) solar modules to JP Energie Environnement (JPee) to power its 59-megawatt (MW)DC Labarde solar power plant. The facility, believed to be the largest urban solar PV power plant in Europe, is being built on the site of a former open-air municipal landfill in Bordeaux in South West France. The land was designated as a wasteland, unfit for residential or commercial buildings, or agricultural use. JPee, however, secured a 35-year lease for the 600,000-square meter site and began developing the Labarde solar project, which was selected under successive rounds of the…
Liebherr and MCCtec Rostock have signed a contract with Aibel for the delivery of a cylinder-luffing crane, type RL 2600-35 Lit for DolWin epsilon platform. The company TenneT TSO commissioned Aibel to build the offshore platform DolWin epsilon on which the Liebherr crane will be used for supply and maintenance tasks on the German North Sea. The RL 2600-35 Lit is a weight-optimized and compact designed offshore crane. It is the ideal equipment for small platforms, where space is limited. The RL 2600-35 Lit has a box boom with a maximum working outreach of 52 meters and a maximum lifting…
OYA Solar has closed a $35 million construction and interconnection financing from NY Green Bank, that will support the construction of three community solar projects in New York state. The first, a 6.8 MWDC project in Constable, New York, is already under construction. OYA expects the three projects to be placed in service early next year and they will be the first in a 100 MWDC portfolio that OYA intends to construct through the end of 2021. Together, the entire portfolio will provide 155 GWh annually, enough to power approximately 39,000 homes annually with clean energy, to a wide variety…
Worley has secured a contract to provide the early front-end engineering and design (pre-FEED) for the first two carbon capture units at Drax Group’s power station in North Yorkshire, UK. Each unit is expected to capture approximately 4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year. The carbon capture units will incorporate the negative emissions process scheme, Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS). Drax has piloted BECCS which generates renewable electricity while permanently removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Worley’s work includes developing the plant layout, cost estimation and schedules for FEED and detailed engineering, procurement and construction. It will…
CHANEL has committed $35 million toward solar energy projects for low-income multifamily households with Sunrun. The partnership will expand access to solar for nearly 30,000 low-income residents across California, offering families on average up to $40 to $50 a month in energy cost savings. CHANEL’s investment will also support more than 20,000 hours of job training in the first year, offering valuable vocational skills and certifications to hundreds of people in disadvantaged communities. Through the partnership, CHANEL and Sunrun will install approximately 30 megawatts of solar energy systems on affordable multifamily properties throughout California. This investment is part of CHANEL’s…
