Ørsted and Williams have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore potential jointly developed Power-to-X projects in the US. The two companies are collaborating on ways to combine Ørsted’s renewable energy and hydrogen expertise with Williams’ natural gas infrastructure and processing expertise to co-develop hydrogen or synthetic natural gas facilities powered by renewable energy. Wärtsilä and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), a shipbuilding company in Korea, have signed a joint development program (JDP) agreement aiming at creating ammonia-fueled vessels with 4-stroke auxiliary engines for future new-build projects. Both sides recognize the critical role that future carbon-free fuels will play in the marine industry’s decarbonisation efforts. The agreement is scheduled to be inked in July 2021.
